Elon Musk Encourages Voting Republican On Midterm Eve
'Independent Voters Are The Ones Who Actually Decide Who’s In Charge!'

On Monday, Elon Musk encouraged “independent-minded” voters to swing for Republicans in Tuesday’s Midterm election.

After a weekend of announcements surrounding updates and policy changes to Twitter following his acquisition of the platform, Musk shifted his focus to the Midterm election on Tuesday by encouraging Independent voters to choose Republican candidates for congress.

“To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” Musk tweeted.
“Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!”

Colorado House Representative Lauren Boebert enthusiastically quoted Musk’s message saying, “VOTE REPUBLICAN!”

Musk previously appeared to criticize Democratic policies largely saying “The left is losing the middle” in a July 2020 tweet.
In May, the tech billionaire opened up about his political views while speaking virtually at a tech conference in Miami, Florida classifying himself as a “moderate.”

“I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically,” Musk said during the conference. “Like I’m not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear. Now this election I will.”

Following his statement at the Miami conference, Musk said the Democratic party has “become the party of division and hate” insisting he would vote Republican.
“Judging by the relentless hatestream from the far left, this tweet was spot on,” Musk followed up, noting critics shunning his announcement.

“Massive red wave in 2022,” said Musk in June, announcing he had cast his first Republican ballot voting for Texas House candidate Mayra Flores, who subsequently won the special election.

In July, the tech billionaire previously criticized Democrats for continuing their attacks on former President Trump over a year-and-a-half after President Biden assumed office.

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset,” Musk said. “Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.”

One user questioned if Musk would also vote for the 2024 Republican Presidential candidate, to which the tech billionaire responded he wasn’t sure though conceded he was leaning towards prospective 2024 candidate Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Musk cited “too much drama” in regards to Trump, further criticizing the former President’s age.

“I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69,” said Musk, noting Trump would be 82 at the end of a second term should he be reelected in 2024.

“If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign,” Musk continued, reiterating his interest in the Florida Governor running for higher office.

Musk previously expressed his intention to create a politically neutral platform in Twitter.

:tears: I can sense a Democrat lawsuit coming on... how dare Musk express his own personal opinion on his own feed to which no one else on Twitter is required to subscribe...

Musk's reasoning for DeSantis is as persuasive as a block of wood. I'm not saying DeSantis is a bad guy, but whatever comes from the GOP in 2024 will be of the form: "they screwed the country so bad you basically have no choice but to vote for our guy." The Democrats have really blown it this time. The GOP laid the trap and the Dems didn't just step into it, they hurled themselves into it, body & soul. Kudos to the GOP for political cleverness, I guess? But political cleverness is not what we need, what need is restoration of the core principles of representative government, especially at the national level. We can keep going with the current trajectory of baiting civil war and secession, but we're just ripping the country apart at the seams.

2024 looks to be wide open for a potential 3rd-party sweep. I hope someone emerges on the scene who is more compelling than simply being Not-Biden®...

One thing I will say is that, an organization running at the scale of Twitter cannot move at the speed of Tweet opinions. There are just too many factors that have to be balanced, timelines, product-release pipelines, etc. Musk might be trying to give us the slow-roll but I think he has more important fish to fry. In the past, Musk has always done exactly what he's stated he'll do in business (or revised previous statements accordingly), so I don't think he's lying to us. It would be out-of-character for him. Unless something major happens in the next 90 days, I'm putting the Twitter-moderation issue on the back-burner and re-assess it later. What happens in the next 30-90 days will tell us what's really going to happen at Twitter going forward. You don't reverse course on a $44B ship within a week (unless you like lighting your money on fire.)

So here's a new thing I've never encountered before ...

Elon Musk Defends Trump-Hating Pro-Censorship Demagogue Leading ‘Safety and Integrity’ at Twitter

[... Musk] hasn't (yet) fired Roth [...]

Alex Timothy (10 November 2022)

Yoes Roth, the Head of Trust and Safety at Twitter, has reportedly quit the social media company on Thursday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

Bloomberg reports that "Yoel Roth and Robin Wheeler, two executives who until today had emerged as part of Elon Musk’s new leadership team, have resigned, according to another person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified discussing non-public information."

Musk has also been reported as telling his employees that bankrupcy was possible if it doesn't generate more cash.

Last week the company fired half of its staff with Musk stating that the company was losing millions of dollars every day. The company also recently added an $8 per month certification fee.

Roth is notorious for expressing liberal bias and woke talking points on Twitter.

At the time of Musk's aqcuisition, prominent conservatives warned him not to trust Roth. "You will never restore 'public trust' at Twitter when the guy in charge thinks 100,000,000 Americans who support America First are 'Literal Nazis'" Newsmax's Benny Johnson said.
Roth had been a face of reassurance to the many liberals who expressed concern about the staff cuts and how it would affect the company's moderation abilities.

"Yesterday’s reduction in force affected approximately 15% of our Trust & Safety organization," he tweeted in responce to concerns from the left and from prominent liberal public figures. "Our front-line moderation staff experiencing the least impact."

Some celebrities made a show of announcing on Twitter their departure from Twitter. Actress and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg was one of those people.

“People keep saying it’s free speech, but all speech is not free speech," she said. "Some speech is not okay free speech. So everybody has to agree on that, but if people keep saying ‘You hurt my free speech' it’s going to be a problem. You know what? This is our problem. But it ain’t my problem today because I’m out.”
