Rick Santorum DRUDGE: "Santorum's Satan Warning" (attacks mainline Protestantism)

Your average voter isn't any more versed in church politics as they are national politics.

Who pushed the Herman Cain infidelity stories? It was never attributed to any particular campaign to my knowledge. It shouldn't come from the Paul campaign itself. But it could be tweeted, Facebooked etc.

Maybe it could some damage, but this just isn't on par with infidelity.

I agree that most christians don't know much about church politics, but my point is that they're still affected by them. Even now the southern baptists are making a break with their roots by renaming the denomination Great Commission Babtists. Maybe your experience is different than mine, but I've been VERY entrenched in southern Christian Right culture and I think most of them would agree with Rick and view the mainline Protestant church as essentially liberal.

Mainline Protestantism is a bunch of dispensationalist, rapture-ready garbage. Having said that, it's still infinitely preferable to Rick Santorum's deluded interpretation of Scripture. Can it be any more obvious why the establishment is pushing Rick? It's to discredit REAL Christianity by lumping it together with Pharisee Santorum and is gaggle of idiot followers.

Do you realize there's a difference between Mainline and Evangelical? And that there are conflicts within the Mainline denominations, where some prefer traditional Christian values, and others are starting to capitulate to modern Leftism. The people who he's trying to reach know this, they understand that this is going on, and they're on Santorums side here, and they like it when Santorum says this. There are a lot of them in the Republican Party.

Here's an example of one of the things that Santorum is talking about.

Presbyterian Church votes to allow gay ordination

Presbyterian is MAINLINE. Rick Santorum is saying that the Bible is clear on this, and that it's ridiculous that after 2000 or so years of consistency on this issue, some MAINLINE denominations have changed their position on this. Most Republicans agree with Santorum on this, likely most voters.

And Franklin Graham just came out and said Romney isn't a Christian, and refuses to say Obama isn't a Muslim. All the sudden there is much ado about who is what religion. Only one above the fray on the subject so far is Ron Paul. Mind you, if they involve Ron Paul they are gonna get hurt, because Paul doesn't just speak it, he lives it.

It sounds like you're aware that most Republicans agree with Santorum on this.

Hopefully this will at least let all of the ignorant Republican voters know that Santorum is a Catholic, and not an evangelical Protestant (which many seem to think).

He went overboard by saying churches like United Methodists and American Baptists are "outside the world of Christianity". That's what he really said. That would be a death knell for him if it got major press where I live, and yes it would be a death knell even in a republican nomination. There are people who aren't really "evangelical" by the definition that Santorum is using who think they are. If they realized Santorum said the denomination the belonged to and loved wasn't even Christian there is no way in hell they would vote for him.

People are aware that there are splits in their own denominations. People know what Santorum is talking about. This is not a controversial point. This is red meat to social conservatives. Socially Liberal Republicans won't like it, Socially Conservative Republicans will. Typically, you find more Social Liberals in the Democrat party, and more Social Conservatives in the Republican party.

Did he name denominations specifically? Or did he just say mainline? I think he just said mainline. And what he's saying is that a lot of mainline churches have changed so much in the last 30 or so years that he can barely recognize them. People who have been paying attention know this to be true.

Hello Forum! How are you? I'm doing well myself, and it's a pleasure to post with you!

This message is primarily for Rick Santorum. Hopefully he's browsing the threads here on RPF and can intercept this message.

I just wanted to let you know that Satan not only has his eyes on America, but he has his eyes on the whole world. We have to work on ourselves to expel the lies within us individually, before we can help others do it as well. Seeing that Jesus is truth, and the Son of God, who is also truth, and that Satan is the father of lies, and only gives birth to more lies, it is easy to see which forces are for good, and which ones are for evil. God is truth, and gives birth to truth. Satan is lies, and breeds liars.

So now that we have stated that fact we can see who we serve by figuring out if truth is in us, or if lies are in us. If we serve truth, we serve God. If we serve lies, we serve Satan.

So, in your circumstance Mr. Santorum, seeing that you are a politician, and that your decisons effects global events, we can see through policy decisions that you have made, or statements that you have made to find out whether you serve truth, or lies.

You have said you support invading Iraq due to the danger of Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction. Later after your support for said invasion no weapons of mass destruction were found. This qualifies as a lie. So because a lie caused you to support warfare, you have served a lie, even if unknowingly. I understand that the Iraqi government was evil, but does one repay evil with more evil causing Satan to rejoice? Or should one repay evil with good, thereby cutting evil in half? Jesus actually gives us the answer, you should look it up. It does a lot of good to read the Word without an agenda, but with an open mind sir.

Also. Truth does not defeat lies by telling more lies. Truth defeats lies by being rock solid and continuing in truth.

There is a story in the old testament of the Bible in the book of Daniel that tells of three men who refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar, therefore he cast them bound in the fiery furnace. The three were engulfed in the flames, and there was a fourth who "looked like a son of the gods" who walked around in the fire with the three men unbound. When the three men came out of the flames, they were not hurt or burnt whatsoever! Do you know how that could be Mr. Santorum? I think I might know. I think the flames are temptations, lies, and deceit, and since the three men are of the truth [that is, of God] these men were not affected by Nebuchadnezzar's flames of lies. These men were not corruptable because they walked WITH truth. Truth was in them, so lies had no effect on these men!

There is a place, [I don't know where exactly] called hell, and Satan the father of lies rules it. Some of us are cast in the fire and quickly destroyed by its power. Others who walk in the truth, the way, and the life [sound familiar?] are not affected by these flames, and walk out of them unharmed. I invite you Mr. Santorum to walk in this way too, unless of course, you are content with serving your father of lies.

So basically he is attacking all religions except catholicism and evangelicals and maybe jewish?... lol. People who vote for him probably shares teh same sentiment.

I wouldn't vote for Santorum even if the Republican party did the logical thing and put a psychiatrist in as Santorum's running mate.

Well, talking about Satan....

Seriously, John Hagee was and is one of the worst and evil pieces of trash walking around.
Of course, nothing of which he speaks and preaches has anything to do with Christianity, but is instead some sort of dumbed down judeo-apocalyptic mixture. He basically never uses any part of the New Testament - save for the Apocalypse - but dwells endlessly in the Old Testament, with loads of fire and brimstone. If you really got nothing better to do and can't be appalled easily, watch some of his sermons on youtube.

And Santorum's Catholic church has endorsed Darwinism. Big whoop! Here's what the United Methodists (also "mainline" Protestants) have to say on gay clergy.

While persons set apart by the Church for ordained ministry are subject to all the frailties of the human condition and the pressures of society, they are required to maintain the highest standards of holy living in the world. The practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. Therefore self-avowed practicing homosexuals1 are not to be certified as candidates, ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in The United Methodist Church.

Santorum lumping all mainline Protestant churches into one messy whole will bite him in the butt if anyone has the courage to call him on it.

Hmmm...

Rick Santorum is a Roman Catholic...
(the thinking velociraptor)
The third Assassin's Creed must be about Santorum winning the Presidency!

Much to the chagrin of his political allies, he has narrowed Judeo-Christian down to Judeo-Catholic...

All doubt had been removed. Rick Santorum is the anti-Christ. ;)

FYI some of you guys need to remember that there are a good number of Catholics here and what Santorum is doing isn't Catholic, it's crazy.
