Pandering Won't Be Enough

The endless presidential campaign should lead to sharp questions on Iranian nukes
July 05, 2007 - Jonathan S. Tobin, Executive Editor

On Israel itself outside of fringe candidates like the wacky right-wing libertarian Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and the leftist Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), there isn't too much daylight between the candidates on support for Israel's right of self-defense, as well as on their disdain for Hamas.

Is this guy saying he wants America to nuke Iran on behalf of Israel? And he calls Ron Paul wacky?

The claim of whackiness with no details may well stoke the curiosity of those who know nothing about Dr. Paul enough to research him.

I agree.. I think this particular type of smearing is mostly positive.. For instance, the article is so obviously biased that I think it's a safe assumption that their readers are biased as well.. I don't think their readers would be that interested in Paul if he were written of in a neutral way.. He would be lost in the shuffle, he would be seen as boring.. But by adding sensational adjectives such as "whacky," it inspires curiosity in his "whackyness," which should keep 'em talking.. And the more they talk of RP, the more his name is out there, and the more people hear it, the more people are given a door to his excellent record and worldview when they research his "shenanigans."

I would really like to see a lot less frustration over the anti-Paul agenda.. It's actually a showing of respect, believe it or not, and an acknowledgment of RP's influence and power.. They will never support RP, so let's hope they never stop talking about him.. Because if they do stop talking about him, it's because they consider him insignificant, and that's not a very nice thought..

The only reason to worry about smear is if our guy is a dirty rat.. No one can deny RP's consistency, nor his convictions, nor his integrity.. His character is about as good as it gets, and that will be quite obvious to anyone who values such things..

I also love how the article talks about "Israel's right to SELF-defense" but the whole article is about what the US will do for Israel.

I couldn't make it past the first line, I've got a head-ache now...

It's funny, I work with another Ron Paul supporter and the way he gets people to do research is by calling Ron Paul, "A Yahoo!!!' or 'You won't believe what this idiot says!"....and you know what? It totally works. He's gotten at least four other employees to look into Ron Paul, now over the next few weeks I expect they will join the fight to help him campaign. So, there is something to be said for some smearing I think....

As strange as this sounds, it's true. I am a longtime member of XD Talk.com, a gun forum. We have one particular member who disparages Dr. Paul big time. His rants have led more than a few forum members to look into Ron Paul's writing and background, and has garnered quite a following.
So I say...Rant on!
