Does Ron Paul Still Have a chance of becoming President????

There's a difference between being optimistic and being unrealistic. Keeping hope alive isn't a bad thing. But this Brokered Convention isn't going to happen, so therefore there is no path for Ron to secure the nomination. No offense, but this comes off as delusional. Fail went out of style years ago, btw.

Ron won't be the Republican nominee.

I'm sure Gary would step aside and be Ron's VP on the LP ticket.

I bet you $500 Ron Paul's name will be on the ballot in Tampa and we will win the nomination. You must watch the news to much.

lol! Even Fox admitted 'it looks inevitable' that Ron is going to get the plurality of delegates in 5 states to be nominated into contention at the RNC.

We need RP people educated on the delegate process to call in to the radio shows and school these jerks.

I'd take that bet and double it. And it's Republican voters that watch the news too much so don't insult the supporters who feel that a 3rd party run is the most realistic chance at being a force in November.

It would definitely help.

The impossible to win statement is from the AP projected delegates, (which is inaccurate) Ron if he got all the rest of delegates couldn't get 1144. However, many delegates 'allocated' by the AP to others will be Ron's. Still, I'm not thinking he'd get 1144 on the first ballot but that he might keep Romney from getting it. In that case there would be more than one ballot and delegates would be unbound.

Again, a lot would need to fall our way.

The campaign isn't doing that. Were the campaign to do that, we would discuss that here. Otherwise keep speculation in hot topics, please. There are a TON of people putting in a ton of work on Ron's behalf in the delegate process, and as we have been seeing, it is bearing fruit. Let's not undermine them.

I don't know much about this, but I was told this past week there was a rule that if you don't win at least five states, your delegates aren't counted, so the Tampa strategy (don't talk about fight club) may not work. They may just give O'Romney the nod without giving our delegates, who accidentally came in under other candidate's camps, a voice.

The rule is that the PLURALITY of delegates of five states have to vote for you to automatically put your name into contention as a nominee. As I mentioned above in this thread, even Bret Baier of Fox news admitted that Ron could do that, and Juan Williams chimed in that it looked inevitable, at this point.

I'll bump the thread with that clip.

convince santorum and gingrich supporters that ron paul is still in the race to defeat romney... and that they are wasting their gosh dang votes voting for anyone but ron paul. protest vote is stupid in their case.

I cannot give up hope on the man who has not given up on his message for the people for decades.

Also, the 3rd party run would practically spell disaster for Rand's future chances at President if Obama got reelected because neither Paul nor Romney got the majority.

Ok, so I've gathered from this thread that Paul still has a shot, but it's going to be difficult.

Well, seems like Paul has about just as much chance as Sam and Frodo did destroying the One Ring and defeating the dark lord. And we all know how THAT turned out! :)

totally agree.
we have to take the GOP back, however long it takes.
in the next election cycle whoever is the real Liberty candidate (maybe Rand), will start around 15-20% support (I hope).
the only way to go is higher.

I've been extremely disappointed in the Republican higher-ups lately, not just because they're trying to brush Ron under the carpet, but also because from my perspective their treatment of him makes no sense strategically. Even assuming I was not a Ron Paul supporter, but just a steely-eyed Republican who wanted to replace Obama with a neocon at all costs, it would make more sense to have Paul in the tent (peeing out, so to speak), then outside the tent and possibly screwing things up for them with a third party run. I had really hoped they would placate the Paulites with a Rand Paul VP-nomination, an appointment of Ron as the Treasury Secretary or something like that, but they really seem to want to brush all that aside and just pretend it's Romney, Romney, Romney and the Paul thing was just an irrelevant flash in the pan.

I don't understand how they can't see that while Ron Paul may not have the power to beat Romney in the nomination process (at least, it's not very likely), he DEFINITELY has the power to ruin it for them. Romney's chances are already looking pretty questionable and his would be a slim margin of victory in November at best. If Paul takes away even 3% of his votes, even with just simple write-ins, Romney loses. All Ron has to do is run third party. Or even not run third party but say, endorse Gary Johnson or something. I think they think all the Paulites will just grit their teeth and vote for Romney since at least he's slightly better than Obama. But how little they understand the Paul people if they think that!

How do they not see that Paul has the power to snatch the presidency from their grasp? How can they be so stupid as to alienate his supporters?

Just a rant, really...
