http://www.taoofherbs.com/products/454/NaturesAnswer/PerioBriteToothpaste.htm

PerioBrite, a low abrasive toothpaste, does more than clean teeth - it supports periodontal health. dentist formulated PerioBrite contains soothing organic herbs well-known for their action while Co-Q10, folic acid, oregano, cinnamon, and clove support tissue and gum health. PerioBrite naturally whitens teeth while leaving your breath fresh and clean, energizing your whole mouth with a cool, sparkling mint-fresh sensation.

* naturally whitens
* great for sensitive teeth
* ideal dry mouth relief
* suitable for entire family

Free of preservatives, alcohol, synthetic solvents, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial sweeteners, colors and dyes.

It promotes healthy teeth and gums by offering more than other "natural" toothpastes. It blends Lysine with antiseptic herbs, essential oils and the cell-renewal support of the patented extract of Phytoplenolin in a base that is both fluoride-free and preservative-free. Used regularly, this vegetarian, low abrasive toothpaste helps discourage the growth of microorganisms, pathogens often responsible for gum inflammation. It will leave teeth clean and breath fresh for hours.

Dentist formulated, preservative and Fluoride free, low abrasive. With Co-Q10 and Folic Acid. Refreshing cool mint flavor.

It tastes good too, and it costs around $7. Thing is, you put a pea-size amount on there.. it can last for at least 3-4 months.

Asking the question.... do you really know why your teeth hurt? I have some suggestions.

Isn't the water supply fluoridated as well?

Also, are any of these non-fluoride toothpastes found in a local grocery store?

Don't forget about good old Dr. Bronner's! Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and clothes/dish detergent all in one...

You can buy Tom's of Maine toothpaste at wally world. I promise you can.

Just do a search for "health food store *your town*" You can buy some natural shit there. Just be sure to read the label. Just because it says its natural doesn't mean that it is. In addition to fluoride, you should avoid anything with sodium laurel sulfate, anything that ends in paraben and anything that has a number in the name such as "Steareth-2". This is just when you are shopping for natural products though. If you're just buying mainstream stuff then don't read the label. It'll just scare you.

Xyliwhite by NOW Foods. No fluoride, and it uses xylitol as a sweetener rather than sugar. Xylitol is actually good for your teeth.

I don't use toothpaste (I use a Soleday toothbrush) but my wife and son use Xyliwhite and really like it.

It depends.. we use well water, so we're not on a city line. I doubt we have flouride in the system.

The toothpaste that I mentioned can be found at a health food store or online.

There are plenty of whitening toothpastes that don't have fluoride. Generally the two cancel each other out. My dentist (who is also a family friend) pointed out that whitening toothpastes with fluoride have no effect either way, so pick one.

Toms of Maine can be found at all the grocery stores I have seen, organic stores, and more.

I have been brushing my teeth with baking soda for decades and I have not had a cavity since 1986.

Your local health food stores should carry flouride free toothpastes.
All water has some amount of naturally occuring Flouride in it, but I know that our water in Hawaii does not have any extra flouride added. I checked our water department's papers and the amount of flouride was very low. I drink reverse osmosis water from my friend's water vending machine anyways.

That would be this right?

I can get this on the mainland...good stuff!

Speaking of flouride I've seen a site that said it's not only in toothpaste but grape juice, tea, beer, processed cereals, seafood and in our vegetables and fruits due to flouridated pesticides. Also I'm thinking about how many things that I buy in the grocery store that use water. What about when I go out to eat?
As I can see it excessive levels can be avoided but trace intake is almost impossible.

What level needs to be resorted to? Do I need to live in the middle of nowhere and drink from a well that's tested and grow my own food in a greenhouse?

I was relieved to find out that my local water source on decided to flouridate the tap water just a few years ago. I use to drink copious amounts of tap water growing up.
