No to many Stateist/Satanists with guns trying to intimidate me into participating in the religious practices described in the code book.

Local critters. Rabbits, chickens (if you don't think you hunt chicken, you've never tried to catch a free-range one in the Caribbean), 'coons, deer, and whatever happens to be moving (but not flying; I don't hunt the eagles or hawks around the area). I don't precisely do it often, and I don't precisely care that I don't have a license to do so :) Not all hunting is done with guns. Though I included animals that can be/are snared, there are those which can be shot with a bow.

More and more.
:D

If you don't hunt, why not?
no one in my family ever hunted, therefore no one was there to teach me/take me hunting at an early age.

own no land to hunt on.

never owned a firearm until i was 19 (2 years ago).

i live in the middle of a city.

i dont have any friends that hunt.

basically, asking me why i've never hunted is like asking from one from the sahara desert why they never went skying. the environment resources/culture just werent there to foster the habit.

No,, it was a question. Why not? Which you answered well.

There are likely many in similar circumstances. With no intention to offend, you have my sympathy.
I have always been thankful for my "wild" youth.
:)

I've hunted deer in Wisconsin on my grandfather's farm. Mostly from tree stands with bows or shotguns. There's nothing better than Deer Sausage & Deer Hot Dogs.

I hunt deer, wild hogs, and squirrels. Im probably going to go dove hunting this weekend.

I've never been hunting, but with any luck will be able to within the next year or two, most likely turkey, but I'd really prefer to try whitetail. Hunted game is the only type of meat I eat, which happens very rarely. I routinely encourage all the vegetarians I know (with whom my opinion typically carries some weight) to support hunting over factory farming.

Not sure what that means . Please post a copy of the code book .:)

I love hunting! Deer, squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, and I'll shoot at coyote's when I'm hunting on farm land.

I'm planning on going up to Alaska this November to go hunting with my dad. Hopefully we can go mountain goat and or moose hunting. I can't wait!

Predators (usually coyote), deer, elk, rabbit, squirrel, occasionally birds (not big into shotties).

Using mouth calls on predators is my favorite. Hunting the devious, skilled hunter. Putting on a good show of a dying rabbit and coaxing the coyote in is challenging. In addition to calling one needs good camo, scent control, noise discipline, ability to sit still and one has to be able to hit an 8" circle that is sometimes on the run anywhere from 2 yards to hundreds.

Dove season coming up in NC in a few days. That's some fun stuff with a group of family/friends.

No, I've always wanted to try hunting, but I'm a big animal lover and I fear that I would deeply regret my actions. I feel like shit for days if I run over a rabbit or raccoon with my car. If I shot a deer and watched it die, I would likely break out into tears. Not very manly of me, I know. :p

I do eat a lot of meat though, and I realize there's some real hypocrisy there.

That being said, I want to go hunting sometime in my future, so I can understand and appreciate the experience of actually killing my food, myself. I have a feeling it might actually set me on a path to vegetarianism.

It didn't for me. But it did give me more respect for the animals I hunt and for the balance of nature.
Killing is not easy, and should not be.
After many years I still remember my first kill. (a rabbit) An odd mix of emotion that can not be well explained, only experienced.

That's a good way to look at it, I think.

Yup, I don't think I'll be able to really comprehend it at all, until I do it.

Yeah nothing's worse during hunting for me than shooting something and having the animal only be wounded, meaning it then suffers as it tries to get away and you have to track it down. It's the reason I only shoot whitetail deer in the neck, because everytime I've done so, they just go plop on the ground and it's over. If I miss because I'm shooting at a small target compared to underneath the shoulder, then I miss. Some people just aim for the chest and end up gut-shooting the thing, and it can run for miles gut-shot.

That's also why I am anti-bow hunting, because I don't know how many times I see a deer limping around the woods or find a rotting carcass with an arrow in it.

If you want to hunt, use a gun, and use enough gun so the animal doesn't have to freaking suffer.

Consider also that animals rarely die of old age. A deer that lived to be really old may likely die of starvation due to losing its teeth. Likewise, overpopulation could lead to starvation.

As a hunter you can offer a swift death if your aim is true.

While I'd never support a ban of bowhunting, I've got to give that a +1, having seen the same thing myself.

Had to put down an injured doe back in my woods with the same problem a couple of years ago, bow stuck in her rump and infected to all hell so she couldn't walk anymore.
