With no intention to offend, you have my sympathy.
I have always been thankful for my "wild" youth.
:)

oh, no, im right there with you, i've always had the desire to go go hunting. i'd be awesome if there were still herds of wild buffalo-last buffalo burger i had tasted great.

Consider also that animals rarely die of old age. A deer that lived to be really old may likely die of starvation due to losing its teeth. Likewise, overpopulation could lead to starvation.

As a hunter you can offer a swift death if your aim is true.

I like that logic as well. Thanks. :)

No, although I have nothing against guns for protection and for recreation shooting such as target shooting. I could never kill a living creature unprovoked. There is no need to do it for food as a vegan diet is healthier.

I would like to make it clear that laws should not be imposed against hunting as it would never happen and even if it did, you can't change the way people think when laws are passed.

I hunt a lot. I usually harvest about three deer per season all with my bow. Quick, clean kills within 30 yards, usually most of my shots are inside 20 yards. All double lung shots with the deer rarely going 30 yards before they die. There is nothing like having to be stealthy enough to be in close proximity to your quarry. Here where I am at in Ohio we have way too many deer, I could legally kill seven with the appropriate permits.

I also hunt ducks and geese, pheasants, rabbits, doves, squirrels, etc.

I have traveled to Canada and North Dakota several times to hunt waterfowl and upland game. I go to Missouri 2-3 times per year to hunt ducks in the flooded timber and rice fields.

My future plans include Africa for big game and Argentina for wing shooting. I'd also like to hunt elk and moose if I ever get a chance.

Harvesting your own game is part of the circle of life. I treat every animal with respect as I have taken it's life to further the lives of my family. We eat wild game several times per week and give lots of game to friends, family and the homeless. Me and a business partner of mine are spearheading a charity that facilitates the donation of venison to poor and homeless people.

Bowhunting is more challenging, and just like firearm hunters, there are people out there who don't take enough care to make a good killing shot.

On the one hand, hunting is a fine tradition that I am proud to be a part of.

On the other hand, there are hunters who are downright shameful in their practices.

You've eaten Beaver?

I love MelissaWV

Myself, I can't remember if I've eaten beaver, but I know I've eaten groundhog stew, I imagine there's not a lot of difference.....fatty, greasy, good in stew.....It's possible, during my "wild" years that someone threw something in the pot that I missed....:)

I've gone gigging frogs and snaring turtles, but have never fired a rifle or pistol at an animal. I've tried bow hunting, but didn't hit anything but shrubs....

Did a little trapping when we had our acreage out in the boonies, love me some rabbit....
