I gotta say that I just tuned in for Obama's speech but it seemed so generic. You've seen one, you've seen them all. I don't know... I guess I didn't see what was so AWESOME! OMG!!! about it. I mean I walked into all of my classes to find the professors and students talking about how great it was and when asked for my opinion, I simply stated that I didn't watch it. You can pretty much guess their response. GASP!!!

I'm watching a replay right now. He sounds like all other politicians. It's just more bs from the party machine. Hopefully he does something good though.

I did not.. thank god.

this whole government is bullshit.. and it gets clearer every day.

Nope, I watched it. The speech twice.

Kept imagining ol' Ron giving that speech in front of that enormous crowd.

I didn't watch, but I heard a replay on the radio. For being such a "great orator" I felt he didn't deliver.

I did not. I do not enjoy vomiting. I did read the text of the address. A few highlights:

I am now asked to be "loyal" : only to the Constitution, thank you BO

"Honesty" is a successful virtue: How about unsealing your records from college, law school, and coughing up the birth certificate, BO?

The people who toiled to create America "saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions.." : No, you jerkoff, America is the result of toiling and engaging in mutually beneficial transactions.

"We will lower the cost of health care": Does this include figuring in taxes?

"Those who advance their aims by slaughtering innocents-we will defeat you.": Does this include Israel? And the U.S?

"It is precisely the spirit that must inhabit us all": Thank you for telling me how to think, Chaiman Mao.

"The selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job." : Code for sheeple who will not complain as our administration sucks the wealth out of the middle class and funnels it into corporate coffers, CEO's pockets, and off-budget CIA black-ops.

"We will forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan": Code for for we will have our pipeline, strategic bases, and poppyfields for the CIA, and kill hundreds of thousands in the process, and maime scores more for life.

"This is the price of citizenship.": Our only price is vigilance against your tyrannical government.

didn't watch here...but I have had much fun at his expense while talking to customers on the phone today, but then again, I do have NWA on the musak in his honor--"if you smoke 'cane you'e a stupid motherf..., just ask Larry Sinclair...all hail commander n' chief. Not the first crackhead in the white house though."

The local news is showing the college campuses and theaters that broadcast it for the gathering audiences.

Some were crying, sickening.

What happen to citizens being suspicious of politicians?

I guess if RP won, we would have had big parties too. But this feels different to me, the crying is like he is their savior and will make everything all better in their lives.

Watched it. I had promised myself not to watch it. The television was on everywhere I went and there was no way to escape this. It was out of my authority. :(

It was a typical speech that comes out of every politician's mouth but instead this one had the element of rhetoric in it and 2 million sheeps listening to it.

Is that really what's goin on out there? Madness! Imagine what would happen if he wound up assassinated!:eek::eek:

didn't watch nor listen...I had to work today to provide for my family and apparently now his. ;)

I've watched a clip here and there of his speech as well as some of the other "festivities" and read some of it.

Pretty lowbrow affair all the way around.

I didn't watch it but I just found out that my son's kindergarten class did because it was "too important to miss"

I do not recall Bush's inaugural speeches being required viewing.

I kept my youngest home today. My oldest went late but sadly, he arrived in time to catch some of it. He was unimpressed.

Didn't watch, but I'll probably look for youtube videos later. I tried to watch a second or two on youtube earlier, but it made me sick.
