Detroit threatens to seize billionaire's goats

So who is paying those officials if the city is out of money? If it's really out of money, there shouldn't be any kind of city government left. I suppose there are always going to be those die-hard control freaks who will continue on without making any money.

I guarantee there's fed money going to Detroit even if it's only welfare and subsidies....

If I was a billionaire I would overthrow the Detroit govt and make it a goat ranch.

A goat ranch would be a huge improvement.

+ 17 trillion or so

Bad =A guy and goats

Good = Government program utilizing gasoline, lawnmowers, transportation and all fees, insurance, pensions, social security, workman's comp, OSHA, ...do I have to go on?

Another fan of goat meat here. I like goat a lot better than lamb/mutton for many reasons.

The goats are stealing people's jobs.

Thank god for that Mayor and his unlimited charity. These damn utopians and their schemes. An invasion of goats!? But what then would the people of Detroit do for employment?

They should swoop down from helicopters and shoot the goats. Come on, it's Detroit. We have to follow protocol.

Yeah, not sure. I guess Animal Control is a vital service that had to be maintained through bankruptcy. JPMorgan did pitch in $100 million to the cause...

Doesn't JP Morgan profit from welfare distribution?

I have heard that bears are slowly reclaiming the city...
Besides since all the people left animals are all that's left to control.

Hard to tell the difference.
I had to go downtown for work recently. They have billboards warning against carjacking. WTF is wrong with this place?

I don't think the Mayor has any real power there right now. Last time I was up there, they had a "city manager" who works for the state. I drove through about 5 blocks that didn't have working traffic lights, but there weren't many people out or cars on the street anyway. I only saw 1 cop downtown, and he was by the river walk waking up people who were passed out on the sidewalk and in the bushes. I think really he was just making sure they were still alive. If you call the cops, they aren't coming unless there is a body. If you call the fire dept., there probably won't be enough firefighters to save your house; they will try to keep it from spreading:

Check this out, it's google street view history. It's fascinating to see how rapidly Detroit has declined in as little as 5-7 years.

And pictures really are no substitute for the reality. I had seen lots and lots of pictures of the ruins, even drove through some on the freeway. But taking my kid to something down there...got a little lost and ended up actually driving in the city....it is just horrible. It is just one step up from being a war zone.

I heard dj joking about the people there. He said he thought it was odd that they had sort of adopted Journey's "Don't Stop" because of the single line, "born and raised in South Detroit," without even considering what the next line was.

Aww man, don't make me look up what the next line is...
