ICE capacity to deport (we'll ignore due process friction since Trump is).

According to Grok, ICE has a detention capacity of about 41K beds but has been operating above that capacity with approx. 48K bed capacity. Let's assume this roughly translates to a 900/day deportation once Trump gets his staff motivated.

The Big Beautiful Bill is trying to increase the capacity to 100,000 (all that 360% increase can't go towards facilities. Gotta hire more jack-booted thugs too). If we assume the same 115% utilization, the math works out to a daily deportation capacity of 2,156/day (48K is to 900/day, as 115K is to 2,156/day).

Now that reality would be on Oct 1st, 2025, the beginning of the fiscal year. So if we assume that Big Beautiful Deportation Rate for the remainder of Trump's term, we get a deportation total in excess of current capacity around 1,527,296 (3.333 years times 2156/day minus normal 900/day = 1216 days times 1256/day excess).

But as we calculated above, this is one million people beyond the number of Pedro's and Ali-Babba's with speeding tickets and debt collection cases that were dropped.

Hence, the need for jacking up all the fees for renewals and "papers please" check-ins. Also a need to dehumanize immigrants and have an apartheid state where they can't speak or use social media like a regular American, especially if they are critical of America's "allies" or "interests."
So what do we get from Trump's immigration strategy:

We slightly decrease the rate of increase of dark faces outnumbering white faces for the 3.33 years remaining in Trump's term after the start of the next fiscal year. It's not conquering the French, but it's something.

LIBERTY NEGATIVE:

1. Concentration camps.
2. Erosion of due process.
3. Erosion of freedom of speech.
4. More thugs with guns breaking into people's homes.
5. A shrinking economy that just deported a million working people and replaced them with a bunch of DHS bureaucrats and private prison contracts.
6. A political disaster that will only exacerbate tribalism and make the takeover of this country easier.
7. A less safe America since law enforcement is being largely repurposed for deportation enforcement without due process.

I think #6 is the real intended effect.

The numbers are based on arrests, because though the historic deportation numbers are far less than arrests, Trump is actually deporting close to the arrested amount.

How is it "difficult to solve"? Trump has made it very easy to solve. Just deport whoever I can deport via law-fare and get away with it.

He will destroy families and communities and radicalize immigrant populations, which I can only assume at this point is the goal.

As immigrants and lefties get louder in their protest, the race-baiters in MAGA can say, "See, I told you so," and everyone gets the race war they seem to so desperately crave.

Then DHS can start locking up everyone they want, because at that point they've achieved the real objective, the cassus belli to lock up Christians/MAGA.

And then our race-baiting friends will suddenly be nowhere to be found.

Overstaying a visa not "criminal". It is unlawful. Words matter.

As an example, not paying your credit card bill is unlawful, but it is not criminal. It is dealt with civil case, not a criminal case. Similarly, if you are too poor to pay a Visa renewal fee (and this will be more frequent since Trump is jacking up nearly all the fees and adding new ones), then you would be technically here "unlawfully" but that does not make you a criminal.

Now, if you come here on a student Visa and work in a convenience store, or if you come on a visitor visa fully intending to violate the conditions, that is fraud, and is technically criminal.

You didn't respond to my request for clarification above, but I do agree with this. In post #39 I'm simply pointing out that it's not realistic that Trump will deport more than 1,000,000 or so immigrants above and beyond the the current arrest rate EVEN IF WE CONSIDER EVERY ARREST A DEPORTATION.

So, I'm sort of giving him the benefit of the doubt. And I don't think even his supporters will consider this a great victory. He is over-promising, and will under-deliver. This isn't even counting legal challenges that will no doubt erupt. This is why I can't imagine any other point to this than simply "stirring the pot". Because even to reach those numbers he will have to figure out via lawfare how to criminalize regular working people, which will break up families and piss MAGA-light people off, not to mention the liberals.
