How many delegates is Minnesota worth for Republicans because on politico it doesn't show a number where it should, is it worth any delegates at all? I'm confused...

I think this is non-binding tonight. My sis said there is a primary for repubs at a later date. She did see at least one RP delegate at her caucus tonight, though and huge turnout for dems.

I was told becoming a delegate had nothing to do with the presidential candidacy. i was told the straw poll decided who got the delegates.... Something fishy

NO... the presidential preference poll is just the straw poll. You have to become a delegate in MN is you want RP to win!

I am a proud Delegate for Dr. Paul!

The delegates from tonight are not bound to the results of the straw poll, but in my precinct, the "regulars" were suggesting that delegates normally vote according to that outcome. We have half of the delegates, 4 of 8, so it will be interesting to see what happens.... :)

The delegates who get elected tonight move on to the regional caucus to elect delegates to the state caucus.

The state caucus elects delegates to go to National.

The straw poll is meaningless. In a caucus everything rests on the delegates.

Well then I was misled completely! i didnt become a delegate because I was told I would not become a delegate for one candidate!

The strawpoll has nothing to do with delegates. It was a great night in Minneapolis, I just can't imagine any other candidate getting a single precinct delegate in Minneapolis... our precinct strawpoll went to RP 60%, 25% Mitt, 15% McCain, 0% Huckabee. We couldn't even find someone to speak for Huckabee, we almost had to drop him off the Strawpoll until someone volunteered to speak on his behalf. We took all 7 of 7 delegates in our precinct.

We did not even talk about presidential candidates, we just did a straw poll then after that everything was about resolutions...
