Fine print says that CNN simply assigns 37 delegates to candidates based on their percentages...so it does NOT reflect actual numbers...

Iowa only has 40 delegates to give out. If Ron Paul gets another two he will take third place. If he doesn't get any he may be in fifth place and left out of the ABC debate right before New Hampshire.

That doesn't mean anything. We'll have more delegates from that but won't find out about it until a few weeks from now.

no he won't we fulfill the criteria for that in multiple area

at the very least we're over 5% in Rasmussen and other "reputable" polls nationally

Paul has been invited and will be in the abc debate

I think you guys are confusing the state's delegates and the people delegates. I don't know this for sure but it is my understanding the delegates (people) sent to the national convention are committed to vote according to the states wishes. Unless no one has the correct number needed to nominate then the people become important and can be convinced to switch.

I've heard at least 4 or 5 delegates, just from posters. I think we're going to have a lot more than CNN predicts.

the delegates you have heard of in other posts are precinct/county delegates they then have a state convention where they decide/vote state delegates and who the state delegates will nominate for the Rep nomination.

Correct, Montana Patriot.

CNN is assuming by power of numbers ... however even though Huck came in 2nd place at my precinct, he only ended up with one delegate from my caucus. This is because all of the people who voted for him left after the straw poll.

Meanwhile, RP got both alternates and one delegate as well :) Being an alternate is as good as being a delegate... since usually the primarys no-show.

yes he can end up with more delegates at the state convention to vote for his nomination AND try to convert other delegates to the good Dr.
I am trying to get the mods to stikie this issue and get a head count from those that got nominated or were at the caucus that kept track of the delegate selection.
