December 21, 2012

There will be a show even if the world does not end. People will panic and start all sorts of shit on a global scale. This could actually turn into the end of the world, but by mass hysteria rather than an actual catastrophic event. Stay inside on that day, you never know what orders the police will be given and how out of control they will get with non lethal as well as lethal force.

I would say this is BY FAR the most likely scenario.

Interesting tidbit: when America wakes up on Dec 21 it'll already be Dec 22 in Japan. Disaster avoided!

Buy low (in mid-December), sell high (in 1Q2013).

On 12/21/2012, wear clean undewear and keep off the streets.

When I was a kid, before I knew any of the Mayan calendar EOTW stuff, I had frequent dreams that Jesus returned and I got sent to hell. I kept pushing myself to get right with God (not that I was wrong, I was just afraid of going to hell…religion does that to you). Finally I again had a dream that Jesus returned and God was going through his book of life (or whatever its called). I gave him my name and he told me which line to stand in. This time it was the line for the glass elevator to heaven (kinda like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Before I got on I asked God what age does he hold children accountable for believing in him...he said 19. I asked this question because I had a sister who died at 4 (because of muscular dystrophy) and I wanted to know if she would be in heaven, but when I woke up I for some reason took it as meaning I'd die when I'm 19. It wasn't till a few years after that I heard about the Mayan calendar. I did the math and realized that I'll be 19 the day the Mayan calendar ends (I turn 19 next month).

I always thought that was kinda weird.

Kinda OT: I also had a dream after my aunt died a some years ago, that she returned to earth to say goodbye. All she talked about was meatloaf (it was her favorite meal), but I took it as meaning she was in hell since I knew from my mom's Meat Loaf albums that he sings Bat Out of Hell. Religion can be extremely disturbing. :(

You're not alone. My parents were very religious during my childhood.

I used to have a recurring nightmare about the rapture that I still remember to this day. It's was terrifying, horns of the apocalypse and all.

OK. Gonna stop remembering that now cause I don't want to have it again tonight.

Not this crap again!

I plan to have a Christmakkah, and I don't want some stupid prophecy to ruin it!

If "Time of Change" has any merit, it will be the Ron Paul Revolution!

We are 7 months away from a date that has been hyped for years and apparently has been predicted by more than one culture for thousands of years. My question to you is, what do you think will happen on this day? Might as well make your predictions while we're still around to hear them :p

I have transitioned through several different beliefs over the years. But right now I honestly believe that on 12/21/12 extraterrestrial aliens will reveal themselves in a return-of-Christ-all-will-know manner.

Many people believe the world will end on this day. The Mayan Long Count Calendar does end on this day (some say it really ends 12/23/12). Though from what I understand, the Mayans themselves don't believe this. They believe time is cyclical and that this is simply the end of one phase in Earth's time. Their calendar merely rolls over into a new Long Count. I think the Mayans also say that the world will end as we know it, which is completely different than the world will end.

There's also something about that date being the end of a 26,000 year procession of equinoxes and such. And something about the Earth aligning with the Milky Way on that date. I can't remember the details right now.

Discuss.

End of eqinoxes would mean the end of the Earth orbiting the Sun. Or its orbit becoming perfectly circular and its axis perfectly perpendicular to the Sun.

The only problem is I doubt the Mayans took Daylight Savings Time into their calculations. I hate to tell you guys, but the calender ended months ago.

well to stir the pot a little I found a video from a Russian News source that has some pretty dire looks at 2012 there are English sub titles.

Not that I buy into the end of the world scenario, but this argument against the date is flawed. Their calender is based on days, not like our yearly canlenders with leap years, ect

21 Dec 12 is the date as we know it to end.

Right. I forgot that. 12/21 is the date WE calculated it to end. I can't remember why, but there's also a calculation that says it ends 12/23.
