Wow, what a scary ticket this would be.

Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is vetting Carly Fiorina as a potential running mate, THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned.

According to a spokeswoman for Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO and one-time presidential candidate is being vetted by Cruz's campaign.

"Normal stuff," said Sarah Isgur Flores, who served as deputy campaign manager during Fiorina's bid, when asked about the process. She added that Fiorina has met with members of the Cruz campaign and has given them financial disclosures and other documentation. Flores added that "no offers" have been made.

On ABC's This Week Sunday, reporter Jon Karl floated the idea that Cruz could announce a running mate before next week's critical Indiana primary and suggested Fiorina would be the "one person" to fill that role.

Fiorina endorsed Cruz in March, after her own campaign for president ended. She has made appearances on the behalf of the Texas senator and introduced him at a recent campaign stop in Maryland.

Republicans in Fiorina's home state of California will vote in their state's primary on June 7. Fiorina won the Republican Senate primary in California in 2010.

Update: Cruz campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart provided a statement to TWS. "We've already announced publicly that we're vetting prospecting VP nominees, but no selection has been made yet. When that decision has been made, we will share it."

They said she is one of "several" he is considering. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/25/politics/ted-cruz-vice-president-carly-fiorina/

Presumptive nominees typically vet many possible vice presidents, asking them for extensive financial documents and thoroughly investigating their backgrounds.

"He is vetting a number of solid candidates, and certainly Ms. Fiorina is absolutely one of them," Chad Sweet, Cruz's campaign chairperson, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "The Lead." "She's one of the most talented business leaders of modern times."

Fiorina aide Sarah Isgur Flores also confirmed that the former Hewlett-Packard CEO was being vetted for a possible pick on a Cruz ticket.

Cruz and top Cruz aides Monday sought to end a day of news reports about Cruz's veepstakes, downplaying any vetting as a normal part a fall campaign plan. Cruz himself preached prudence.

"Any responsible candidate -- just a couple of months out from the convention -- would begin that process, examining a both a long list and now a shorter list," Cruz told reporters in Greenwood, Indiana. "And that naturally includes a vetting process."

Carly Fiorina Nearly Destroyed HP well she was the CEO and got owned by Boxer in a election for the senate, what a wonderful ticket lol.

Its not surprising why the media never asked Carly Fiorina any questions on her records as the CEO of HP.

Rafael E. Cruz . . . now mathematically eliminated from majority of bound GOP delegates and constitutionally ineligible for VP himself
(ever since that 1976 entry into the USA brought in by two Canadian citizen parents) . . . has a list of VP to vet for what laws they are breaking too - LOL

She's the logical choice for him. She's at least very good at defending herself against attacks from the dems, plus she's a woman.

She's the logical choice for him. . . . she's a woman.
Cruz does need to get woman support, I agree.

$500,000 to C.A.R.L.Y. for America . . . excuse me - the original "Carly for America" - FEC can be vetting you both now.

Meh, I guess it's not a bad idea to counter Clinton and all, but she is a two time loser in campaigns already what does she bring to the table other than being a woman?

It's not for you, its for those people who will vote for the woman just because its a she that voting block that the the media is cultivating. First they want to get woman to vote against Trump/republicans, then- subconsciously the media will get people to think that if a woman doesn't win the presidency then women's votes don't even count. Plus do you actually think republicans would prefer to run Sarah Palin?

lol... how about a unicorn? I don't think there is any such thing as a potential Cruz VP.

Basically the RNC is going to try to create the most electable ticket and he is currently losing this argument that he is the one who can win. this is going to be a contested convention since the RNC write the rules. The only potential of a Cruz nominee would be for him to sell to the electorate that he is the most electable. Having a race card is a good first start to sell your elect-ability.

This makes no sense. Cruz already has lost. Trump is the presumptive nominee. Is Rand also vetting candidates for VP?

He's not the presumptive nominee until he wins a majority of bound delegates, or possibly close enough that some unbound delegates publicly pledge to him to make up the difference.
