Traffic was treacherous and growing worse by the hour. Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson (D) declared a state of emergency and said that police would be stopping motorists and "requiring" them to return home because authorities were spending too much time rescuing stranded drivers.

Rescuing stranded motorists must be cutting into their drug bust/asset forfeiture time. I bet that's really annoying.

You know, protecting and serving and all.

PLEASE use the chopper. I beg you. For the Senators too.

...The Senate convened with health-care insurance on the agenda, and senators were chauffeured in Chevrolet Suburbans. President Obama flew into Andrews Air Force Base, returning from climate talks in Copenhagen, but weather conditions forced him to ride back to the White House in a motorcade instead of a helicopter.

Too bad this is happening on a Saturday night. A DC snow-in would be great in the middle of a busy Washington work week.

How about put out an alert that the police won't be responding to calls in that area? Let people drive at their own risk. The nanny state once again knows better than you do...

As Obama returns from a failed attempt to impose global governance on the back of global warming hysteria it is ironic he returns to his home amidst record levels of snow fall.

There's a really good joke there, somewhere.

odd bit later in the story there is a blurb about a 'plainscloths' cop unholstering a gun on a bunch of people having a snowball fight.

I was stationed at Andrews during a couple of big storms, snow makes for some of the more intresting times on the flight line. Also DC just seems to clean up its act when its covered in snow. And snow or not, I could do w/o PG Co police any day any time.

If they let people die out there they would be attacked far more than they are now.

I agree with you, but that's not how most people think. When the snow clears - they'll be judged by how many people died.
