i would imagine that the colors started off with most red being who got the most the very first time they used the graph...at that point the colors were assigned by position in that first experience. They have since kept the colors associated to each candidate.

I noticed this too. It seems they reserve the grey colors for those they dont want to stand out. It works as a psychological que, so to speak, and makes his importance seem diminished. I'm not surprised they do that.
Did anyone just see the Rep. graph showing Paul tied with Mcain at 13%? Why was Paul's color grey? Aren't the grey tones reserved for the lowest numbers?
