‘You Are Contagious’: CNN Medical Analyst Says It’s ‘Surprising’ Biden Was Maskless After Testing Positive for Covid

CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said on Wednesday it was “surprising” to see images of President Joe Biden boarding Air Force One without wearing a mask just minutes after it was announced the 81-year-old tested positive for Covid-19.

Biden was said to have been feeling mostly fine and did not have a fever but would cancel a number of campaign events and travel to Delaware to isolate from others.

On CNN’s The Situation Room, host Wolf Blitzer welcomed Reiner on to discuss the president’s case of the virus and to get his professional opinion as to how Covid might affect him at his advanced age.

Blitzer briefly interrupted his guest to show a live video feed of Biden exiting his vehicle and boarding his plane surrounded by at least 10 other individuals. The president was not wearing a mask and was in close proximity to those around him.

“Dr. Reiner, we’re seeing live pictures of the president boarding Air Force One and right now, and what jumped out at me and I’m sure to others as well, I didn’t see him wearing a mask as he was with those other people on the tarmac there,” Blitzer said. “What does that say to you?”

Reiner replied, “Well, I think anyone who has active Covid now should wear a mask. That’s not controversial. That’s just, that’s courteous. If you have Covid, now you are contagious. So that’s surprising that he wouldn’t be wearing a mask with Covid at this time.”

Did anybody else get yelled at by a Karen for not wearing a mask during COVID?

That was one of my most memorable COVID memories.

It was in the heat of COVID, I went to a convenience store down the street from me that was owned by some Middle Eastern guys. I forgot my mask.. so I just put my shirt up over my nose. When I walked in, the guy who ran the place had a mask on, but I looked over and there was this girl stocking the shelves who was maskless. I knew they didn't really care, but since that is the case last thing I wanted to do was start any trouble for them.

So I picked up some ice and maybe a drink or something, went up and paid. I turned around to leave, hands full, and my shirt slipped off my face.. just at that moment, Karen walks around the corner into the store with her husband and starts cussing up a storm, calling me a piece of shit and every name in the book. I look over at the lady who worked there with her mask off, she looked horrified. I looked back at the lady cussing at me and she was still yelling shit. Then I looked back at the maskless employee, she was still looking horrified. I looked back at the lady, she was still yelling at me. She didn't seem to notice the employee with her mask off, she was so hyper focused on me. Her husband was just standing there completely silent, probably embarrassed. So I just left.

A couple days later I went back to the store and the clerk started cheering and clapping for me.
