Romney 37%
Santorum 19%
Gingrich 18%
Paul 12%
Perry 5%
Huntsman 1%

just flashed on CNN

Mitt has 40% of independents, Ron has 18% (+/-8.5%).

They also only had a tiny sample of under 50s.

In South Carolina, independents may as well be considered Republicans. Same with Democrats.

The numbers for Santorum and Romney are a lot different than Rasmussen's poll.

Laughing at Gingrich's drop. Still, how the heck is Santorum getting so high there? Time to expose this guy for the big government creep that he is!

Our goal should be to overtake Gingrich. If Gingrich gets 4th place finishes in NH and SC, it might be a technical knockout for him. Three 4th place finishes. OUCH!

Edit: Actually, Newt might get 5th in NH. Even worse.

12% is not a bad platform to work from. A strong 2nd in NH will help with an even stronger showing in SC.

Problem is Gingrich is now under the radar and not a threat. No one is going waste any money in the south attacking him if he's a distant 3rd. I guess we should let Romney and Perry hit Santorum and we should hit Gingrich. Everyone else will hit Romney resulting in us rising and the rest falling...

RIGGED! RIGGED! RIGGED! You know, exit polls were all the rage last election. Why do you suppose they haven't been mentioned at all this year?

This is a promising poll. If we could get second in South Carolina... it really would be just a Romney Paul race.

I agree, but Gingrich takes votes from Romney. i think we need to hit Romney for being pro-abortion in 2002 and put that up in SC. If we keep focusing on the also-rans and let Romney fly under the radar, he'll get too big of a lead for us to catch him. However, if we beat Romney down to the level of the others, we may just gain ourselves a weaker break out opposition. I mean, imagine a two way race of Paul and Santorum; I would LOVE that.

So we can;t give Romney any more of a lead then he will have because if we waste time and money on also-rans they will be beaten, but they'll only endorse Romney as they leave. In the end we'll fall further behind.
