after reading the articles, i'm wondering: who in Idaho politics is getting paid to let the Chinese play?
I absolutely cannot believe anyone here applauds this. It just convinces me even more that after Ron Paul is gone, we will all go our separate ways.
We used to have laws about selling our land to foreign countries. It is called national defense.
Oh, stop it.I absolutely cannot believe anyone here applauds this. It just convinces me even more that after Ron Paul is gone, we will all go our separate ways.

Hong Kong was a creation of British imperialism and was forced on the Chinese people at the end of the barrel of a gun. It took over a century for the Chinese to finally kick the British out of Hong Kong.
If you think Hong Kong is more free than America, more power to you. Go move there.
I'm intrigued by this claim. Could you point us to anywhere that has more information about this?
When was it that we had those laws? And what hoops did they make people jump through to prove they weren't with foreign governments before they could buy land?
This thread is single handedly going to be the death of the liberty movement. I always knew Idaho would destroy the nation. Mods, You must put a stop to this hateful dungeon of south Boise before it kills us all.
that's pretty funny...
i'm trying to look at this from a local aspect, although i don't live in idaho. throw out the free border philosophical and protectionist aspects for just a moment. somebody is getting paid to allow the chinese to play in idaho. the question is: who and how much? the other question: what do the citizens of idaho really think about this? we already know what the elected officials think (for the most part), but what do those they represent?
like most local "economic development" plans, even with american businesses moving in to "develop" an area, i'm pretty certain the whole story is not being revealed to the people.
don't get me wrong, i'm not against development, i've just seen a HUGE amount of corruption on the local level in my own area, and i know better than to think this is a simple win-win situation for idaho.
It's more common sense, then law. In my opinion foreign private investors have every right to invest in this country. Foreign governments on the other hand don't have that right.

You are correct. This is not development for the people of Idaho. This is development for China.
They state so. This will profit China and employ Chinese Citizens. Not local Americans. This has NO benefit(or very little) to the local economy.
This is a Chinese city, populated with Chinese Communists, Employing Chinese labor. Simply a Chinese expansion on US soil.
