Cassis plays 'truther' card in new ad attacking Bentivolio

Yes, but that does not equate to "the government orchestrated 9/11". Again, provable fact vs theory.

Sophistry and semantical dancing.

Either one is just as bad.

Sophistry = a subtle, tricky, superficially plausible, but generally fallacious method of reasoning.

So, are we looking at another Medina thing here? Is this going to be a story the media covers breathlessly? Bentivolio is still the only one on the ballot, and from what I heard Cassis is running a pretty bad campaign. Hopefully he can survive this bad press and triumph. If this is the core message she's running on, I think a lot of voters will roll their eyes and disregard it. would have been a lot more effective if they included a scene in the movie where someone says "Bush was responsible for 9/11." But of course, they can't use that since Mr. Bentivolio was not acting in any of those scenes.

I have it on good authority Ms. Cassis was once at the same establishment/party/event as someone who later went to jail. How can we trust Ms. Cassis to serve in congress, when she hangs around with such shady characters?

As long as Bentivolio doesn't overcompensate like Medina did he should be fine.

You do not own this movement, Collins. How dare you proclaim who belongs and who does not!!

But the difference is that is provable which means it's not a theory.

Those aren't theories, those are facts; historical facts.

Here's the problem with your "logic" Matt. Let's take the media "blackout". All you can "prove" is that Ron Paul didn't always get the time he deserved. But even that's debatable. What you can't "prove" is that anyone had a backroom deal and said "Don't talk about Ron Paul". Using the whole "Occams razor" certain people around here love to abuse, someone could say "Lot's of people in the media came to the early conclusion that Ron Paul can't win because his foreign policy doesn't match typical republicans and his economic policy doesn't match typical democrats so they decided to cover the politicians that theoretically had a chance to win." Now prove that isn't the case. Oh I think it's kaka, but I don't have the smoking gun "Don't talk about Ron Paul" memo.

*facepalm*

Agreed.

Medina handled it horribly. I don't Bentivolio will inflict damage to himself like Medina did.

On a more positive note, the hubby and I were driving around looking for a place to live, and the only signs we saw in Oakland were Bentivolio signs. None for that Nancy pants on fire liar lady.

Yeah, I've seen the GOP scrambling away from the Christian right because the Westboro Baptist nuts make all of them look bad.
Nah. They run away from the Christian Right because the Christian Right makes themselves look bad.

Anyway, whether Bentivolio is a truther or not is irrelevant. He's trying to win an election. And putting it out in the open that he believes the government slaughtered 3,000 of its own citizens isn't going to get him anywhere.

Because a lot of them don't have tact.

This coming from the man who refused to shake Wamp's hand and got booted from the Davidson County GOP for lack of tact.

There may be some squealing like stuck pigs, but you have to jettison the crazies from any movement seeking national political relevance.

I agree. After we shed the conspiracy wing of the movement we need to dump the pot smokers, anarchists, raw milk people and finally the religious.
Then...THEN we would have the perfect movement....and there would be nobody left. Good thing you aren't making any decisions.

Except you can logically argue for drug legalization, anarcho-capitalism, raw milk and believing in a higher power. All are very consistent with being a libertararian. People who argue for conspiracies are typically not very intelligent. They don't want to understand that keeping a secret between 2 people is tough and keeping a secret between thousands is impossible in the real world.

Of course not. But Matt's reaction wasn't to offer any advice (since he's a political genius, in case you haven't heard). He jumped in and blamed the truthers for something that Nancy's campaign did.

He's a horrible little man.

You should be able to argue logically for those things, but you can't. The GOP wants nothing to do with logic. That's why the truther card plays.
