Canvassing SC - 30% say "I would vote for RP if he could win"

why dont you use that stat when you confront potential voters?
 
Get that 30% to understand they would be responsible for a landslide SC victory for RP.
 
Today I'm going to combine a primary and general response. (Many thanks to the user who reminded me that only an anti-war candidate would defeat a Dem in the general)

I'll say, "Y'know, if I had a vote for every time I heard that, we would win by a landslide!" "and besides that, you are aware that with 70% of the American people against the war, the only candidate that can win the general will be an anti-war candidate, right?"

We'll see how that works.

I think the counterpoint to that argument is - you are essentially saying: I am not voting for Ron Paul because my vote will not matter. But if you think about it, your vote is not going to "matter" no matter who you vote for. No election that I am aware of has come down to a single vote. So if Romney gets 400,000 votes in this state, do you think your 1 additional vote is going to make any difference? If you refrain from voting, the election results will not change at all.

So you are left with the question of - if your vote doesn't matter, then why vote at all?? The answer is: because your vote DOES matter. It matters because that is how you show support for a particular candidate or platform. If you do not vote for what you believe in, then your vote is not YOUR vote anyways. If all we are going to do is figure out who will win and vote for that person, then what sense does it make to even listen to issues or platforms? Just look at who is leading in the polls the day before your state's election, then go vote for that person.

But if a particular platform or candidate is appealing to you, and you do agree with it, then exercise your right in this country to have your voice heard. No matter how small a voice that might be in the big picture. Your 1 vote gets counted, whether you cast it for Ron Paul or someone else. it gets counted and it matters. Vote what you believe because that is how YOU get represented.

Try tell them Ron Paul is the only Republican who can win the General Election, your help is needed to get him there.

Won every Republican debate, among people who watched it.

Won the majority of all Republican Straw polls around the nation.

Raised as much money as Hillary and Obama last quarter. Much more than any other Republican.

Holds the record in single day fund raising, both Democrat and Republican, contributions from us the people not corporations.

Is South Carolina going to be irrelevant in the primary, picking the lesser of two evils, or giving the nation a choice.

Support is from all over the political spectrum, people really would like a Constitutional President.

Do you want a Constitutional President?

Ask them - "Who tells you that he cannot win?"

Wait for an answer...it will probably be "everyone".

Then say "You know who tells you, it's the media right? Well, remember when the media told us that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction and that Iraq would be a cake walk? These are the same people saying that Ron Paul can't win."

I'm going to post a separate thread on this topic in Grassroots, because I have seen the same thing in my own canvassing activities.

If I could canvass in SC and someone says “well I’d vote for Paul but I don’t think he is electable”
Then I would ask the person:
Let me ask you do you think Rudy Guliani is electable?
Do you think Fred Thompson is electable?

You will for sure get a yes to one or both of these questions because people are MSM fed their daily drugs. So then make up a simple piece of paper maybe a full sheet of paper with the message on one fourth the paper and making it cheap then give this to the people and say:

“Well the fact is that after three elections in three states with actual votes Dr. Paul has been proven more electable than either Thompson or Giuliani. He has beaten both of them here are the totals.

Who is Electable?
After Three States (Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan) have spoken here are the total results:


Paul 84082
Guiliani 56286
Thompson 43418

So If you think that Guiliani or Thompson are electable then why is it that Dr. Ron Paul has almost twice the total votes then both Guiliani and Thompson combined after three actual elections? CNN or Fox won’t tell you this but these are actual numbers.


The way I see it the Ghoul and Thompson are dropping in SC in polls but still ahead of Paul. The strategy as many have mentioned is beat Thompson again and Rudy. That is a victory. If Thompson loses SC he may likely drop out. Rudy won’t but let’s give him another black eye. WE NEED TO BEAT THESE TWO AND THAT IS A VICTORY.
Don’t worry if you drive people to the other three. That is much better than then letting us get beat by the ghoul or Thomson.
 
Listen!!! Listen!!! I came up with a good response to that. These people are followers, it's obvious by their logic. So you have to use follower logic, here's what I say:

Idiot moron jackass: "I'd vote for him if he could win."
Me: "Well everyone on your block seems to think he can."
Idiot moron jackass: "Really?"
Me: "Yeah, Everyone on your block loves his message and is voting for him."
Idiot moron jackass: "Ok, I will vote for him too."

Don't worry if everyone hasn't been receptive but that should convert most of those types.

which part of Jessie Benton must go immediately don't you guys understand? If you lighted up the phone lines in DC and someone else was hired TODAY - this would improve dramatically.
 
Don't think to deep about these sheeple. Remember, you aren't selling an idea or message to critical thinkers. You are working with sheeple here, herd them to the polls for Ron.
 
How bout ask them what they really like about Paul and then take their issue and prove to them why it really needs to be done bc. the others aren't gonna do it.

Always the chance that they know very little about Ron Pauls stances, and may not know enough to even point out one area of interest they care for. Many just say they like him and hope we go away so they can get back to their safety zone.

This is when we need to take our personal favorite point and educate them. Don't give up on them.
