I wrote semi-long reply in the evening, hit the wrong button and poof, it was gone. I don't feel like writing it again, but I'll highlight some points.
We have two things that work against each other in this country. On the one hand, we want to stop illegal immigration. On the other hand, we encourage it by reducing the number of low skilled Americans that are available for work. That drives up demand for low skilled labor, therefore, illegal immigration and outsourcing.
And, not only do we encourage illegal immigration with our policies, WE SUBSIDIZE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT WORK. Not that we should be subsidizing anybody, but giving endless support to keep the poor comfortable is a bad idea.
And for those believing in constitutional incrementalism......we'll see how that works politically. How many people work in the DOEd, DOEnergy, USDA, EPA? Tens of thousands (maybe more) unelected busybodies. If we plan to downsize them over slowly over years, people will have a long time to be able to take notice and complain and elect new officials. Although a more Machiavellian idea, we should just abolish them overnight. Do things that people dislike all at once. Sure, they might protest and riot, but it'll be a one time deal and then it will be done. Then, it will fade in the mind of most Americans after a year. Did we forget that most Americans are idiots? And for the newly unemployed people from the abolished departments, their busybody egos would be destroyed. GOOD!
