Neocon swamp almost always wins.
I think the take-away here is that if you are going to run a no-compromise Ron Paul Republican literally
everything has to go right. In terms of money, Matts campaign fundraised well and we had almost $2M of outside money helping Matt (freedomworks, protectfreedompac, liberty pac, concerned american voters pac). So money wasn't the issue. Matt had pretty solid name ID being a state rep for 4 years. He ran a good campaign and had a hell of a ground game. I think the thing that killed the campaign was the fact that he was the only republican to vote against the solemani resolution and also the fact that he skipped the vote on a "peace officers" bill of rights. At the end of the day there is only so many votes where you can go against the grain and still come out victorious.
I think the key thing here is that we had, what, 3 congressional races that we ran? Brakey, Gurtler, Freitas - that is not enough. Both Brakey and Gurtler had the money advantage versus their opponent when you factor in PAC's but still lost. The ground game in both races was solid as well. I think we are going to have to more stabs at the apple. Maybe we win 1/10? I dont know exactly, but we need more stabs at the apple for sure.
The other takeaway, and I believe this is absolutely
paramount....
We are gong to win many more liberty races when the sitting president is a Democrat instead of a Republican.
Unfortunately every GOP president is doing tons of unconstitutional stuff and liberty candidates don't compromise so we are bound to catch flack for that. When a democrat is in power our "NO" votes wont catch any flack from our own party.
Honestly, I think the best thing for the liberty movement is for Donald Trump to lose in November.
