Breaking: Paris shootings and explosions near Stade de France kill 129

I have a prediction. Yes, all this was a direct result of the west getting involved in middle east politics. This does not negate the horrific act against innocent people by "Muslim extremists". My prediction is that the French men in general and perhaps other European men will start to take things into their own hands. You can expect many attacks against Muslims living in Europe after this...

which is probably what they hope for.

I think a better reaction for Europeans, is to arm themselves maybe? Can they really expect to not have means to defend themselves, when their country is waging a war of sorts?

I think modern nations are spoiled with technology, that a guy at a computer in Nevada can drone strike the middle east. Out of sight, out of mind? It doesn't change if it happens or not though, it encourages sleeper cells to pop up and gorilla tactics.

Yep- it was the Brits who introduced massive scalping to the Americas. A couple of tribes only used scalping for certain rituals. The Brits were well known for it and paid $10 for every Indian scalp- man, woman, or child.

Let's not judge them too harshly. Just think of it as buying baby parts from abortionists slightly later in the gestational period. I'm sure in the end, those Brits were only guilty of trying to make a better world.

Explain to me why one would need to go all the way to Syria to learn how to shoot, or pull a grenade pin, etc?

^^^rhetorical question

In fact, terrorists do not require training camps out in the desert somewhere (though they make for good television).

Going about the world destroying "safe havens" is pure nonsense; terrorism does not require such safe havens, and their loss will have no impact.

All you can really do about terrorism is redouble normal domestic security measures.

...I stress normal, as in "not requiring violations of the Bill of Rights."

No doubt the U.S. government created this mess. Started most recently with Bush invading Iraq for no reason and destabilizing that country for no reason and ending with Obama arming ISIS without realizing it - though U.S. interventions in the Middle East have caused rising hatred against this country for decades.

The whole point of taking the battle to the supposed terrorists after 9/11 made no sense. And yes, they are scattered all over. What I am tired of is half ass. Either do nothing and close our borders, or declare war and annihilate them. What we are doing bombing ISIS right now is useless and angers Muslims and creates more terrorists. Now they want revenge for Jihadi John, who no doubt deserved to die.

I have been non-interventionist my whole life. The U.S. government is to blame of much of this, but at the same time the terrorists are responsible for their criminal acts. I expect the "measured" response to Paris by the EU and U.S. to be stepped up bombing in Syria/Iraq with more support troops for the supposed "freedom fighters". That will only make things worse.

My view at this point is any terrorist organization we have identified needs to either be annihilated with absolute force or we back off and do nothing except protect our borders. It is a political impossibility that nothing will be done. Since something will be done, my view is not to do it half ass. I'd prefer the U.S. had stayed out of Iran back in the 1950's and left the Middle East alone. Too late. The reality is the EU and the U.S. won't sit back. They will escalate, but it will still be a mess. Might as well go all in instead of stepped up half ass. JMO at this point. The choice is a thousand cuts over decades, or real ugly for a few years. It's like the Fed propping up the economy and the banks being bailed out and thus creating this zombie economy. The banks should have been allowed to fail, but it would have been real ugly until they could be rebuilt with better business models. Great Depression ugly, but it would have been the right thing to do.

Out of a hundred or two hundred people hostage... if guns were not all banned, at least a few of them wouldve had guns and wouldve at least lessen the deaths by probably killing one or two of the terrorists.

a. Rand should call this out as a false flag, and state ISIS is another puppet enemy, created/funded/trained/equipped by US/UK/Mossad, to justify the war on terror and non-stop meddling in the Middle East. Are the Paris attacks (both Hebdo and this new one) just the latest leg of Operation Gladio? Rand should speak out against both OVERT (military) and COVERT (false flags and black ops) intervention used to keep us drowned in war and empire.

b. Rand should call for restoring the classification of terrorist acts as falling under "crime" rather than "military threat" to de-couple these incidents from a geo-political response in the first place. This would prevent people from calling for "war" every time somebody or some group shoots up a local theater, mall etc. Instead, call the police.

c. Yes, bring up the cultural issues of gun rights and immigration with protected borders. Post Roseburg and Charleston, when the President immediately used a tragedy to push gun control, the mainstream media is no longer in a position to complain when somebody jumps into talking policy before the bodies are all counted.

Didn't Trump say he did want to let refugees in?

Yes, he also said he would advocate taking someone's land to use for refugee camps.

During his Tuesday night appearance on the “O Reilly Factor,” when asked if America should allow refugees fleeing North Africa and the Middle East into America, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump answered, “You have to.”

“What they should do is get all the countries together, including the Gulf States, which have nothing but money. They should all get together and they should take a big swath of land in Syria,” Trump said. “They should do a safe zone for people where they could live. And then ultimately go back to their country, go back to where they came from.”

Yes thats a smart plan, have more nutcases hold weapons and shoot random into the air.

I can't let it go, sorry. History repeats itself. You have not learned your lesson.

The "founders" themselves killed millions of Indians. They wiped out civilizations that had no navy or army. And they wiped out many that had an army but no navy. You seemed offended by me labeling your post as romanticized bullshit but I can't think of any other term to describe it. Are you really this ignorant? What books have you read? The early european americans were not angels. They knew much more about violence than you could ever hope to.

Nor were many of the Indian tribes, angels.

You have plenty of your own bullshit, don't ya.

If you happened to be at that theater with 100 other hostages and a couple of terrorists with guns. And you are watching as they slaughter the people 1 by 1 in front of you. If I gave YOU the choice to have a gun or walk up next in line like cattle, would YOU want a gun?

Sure, that's a concern, and there are a number of things we could do to minimize that risk.

But my point is that our reaction needs to be proportional to the danger.

We are not talking about an "existential threat" as the warmongers would have people believe.

We're talking about a threat that's almost certainly never going to kill more people per year than traffic accidents.

#perspective

In the meantime, we have limited resources.

If there's an existential threat here, it's not terrorism, but our overreaction to it.

Civilizations don't collapse because some dipshits shoot up some movie theaters.

They do collapse from excessive military spending and resulting economic ruination.

Spot on - death by a million paper cuts.

Its kinda weird that the terrorist attack happened on 11/13/15 and on Friday the 13th.

1.There are many with mental health issues so giving everyone a gun is not a smart wise decision its no wonder why so many deaths in America are gun related. Or kids using guns because of their idiotic family.

2. From what i can see the concert hall lacked security. Since the fighters or whoever they were manged to get weapons freely that rises questions and now brings me to your point about Giving everyone a gun. Yeah and how many of those people are mentally fit to bear a weapon?

3.Since America is a Gun Nut Paradise, ISIS fighters or its cult wont have any issues of getting weapons.

Pot/Kettle.

This land did belong to those non-angelic Indians , and NOT the FF- but that doesn't matter 'cause they were just those dirty red/brown people, right?

You're scary dude!

Give me 10,000 crazys with full auto rifles and an armed populace over 15 crazies and a disarmed subservient populace...

Contrary to how you've been taught, government isn't the do-all, end-all...
