Boycott Absolut, absolutely :/

Remind me never to hire you as a marketer. We live in the internet age when you are a large company like this they have to know others will find out about it.

The only think I can think that they AV is betting on is that they will pick up more Mexicans in America than Americans they lose due to the ad. But why even take that chance?

i understand your thinking, but it reality, it doesn't hold out. You and all your friends can boycott it over this.

3 million Mexicans just orded a shot. It wasn't Jose Cuervo this time.

I don't need you to hire me. :P

that's creepy. if i drank, i guess this would make me do so, but certainly not that brand. Boycott for sure!

lol come on guys. as a marketer, I'd have no problem running that all over mexico. I bet they're selling the shit out of some vodka.

i'll stick with the Captain anyway but damn. talk about much ado about nothing.

hey after all I'm not disagreeing that this is a HIGHLY effective marketing campaign, but rather I am just upset that because of its effectiveness it will surely do its part to both divide people as well as plant seeds in peoples minds about a future NAU....but I digress, I dont know if that kind of future-think is allowed here...

By the time it is over, it will not just be a me and all my friends. If any MSM pick up on this you will see AV making public apologies with egg all over their face and sales in the US will drop more than they will pick up in Mexico. You will see southern state bar owners stop selling it and so on.

that's not how the world works. Absolute is a HUGE global advertiser.

hey guys lets not argue on behalf of my little post...can we all just agree that no matter if its a smart marketing move or not that it is at least slightly disturbing?

it's more than just slightly disturbing. it has made me very depressed, picturing drunk mexicans everywhere, carrying their vodka bottles with them.
is anyone going to tell absolut to stop? what country is that co from now?

sorry. I can't do that. Unfortunately, knowing Mexico's feelings on that map, it's just nothing more than playing to nationalism. Mexico's felt upset over losing that territory for a long time. It's not an NAU map, it's an 1800's map. Remember the Alamo? Absolute playes to those sorts of absolutes and sentiment in their ads... always have. I'm not arguing though... at least not attempting too.

hey lets start smuggling drugs into mexico and decimate their teenage population .It would be like returning a favor

Smirnoff is better than Absolut anyways. Of course, you can't beat homemade potato vodka.

This issue really has nothing to do with vodka. The marketing people chose that image because they felt it spoke to the Mexican people. That's what I find interesting about this whole deal.

Do Mexicans in general want to refight the Mexican-American war?

That seems really crazy.

Is it a kind of nationalistic pride reaction to anti-Mexican immigration rhetoric within the U.S.?

It's a real puzzle to me. But I gotta say it's not good PR for Mexicans in my opinion. I mean, we've got immigrant advocates always talking about how great these illegal immigrants are for America, but then things like this Absolut advertisement sure don't inspire much faith in the good intentions of these immigrants. People on both sides need to tone down the animosity, or I'm afraid things could turn ugly.

They don't have to fight any wars. They have been allowed by our government to totally come here illegally, have a ton of kids (on average) and they will take what they believe is theirs by force of population. They will elect all pro-mexico officials, and pretty much turn all those states into socialistic and open border environments.

Want a good vodka?

Effen Vodka --- especially black cherry Effen Vodka --- it's so tasty you don't even need it on the rocks if you're drinking it straight --- and it's not $300 for a 750mL bottle, very affordable.

I love absolute and orange juice. As a matter of fact I am not gonna boycott my favorite drink due to a sign in mexico. I think I'll just refuse to hire a damn mexican and give them my money. I think they need to go back to their country anyway and make their country better instead of coming here and destroying our country. Oh before you get up and arms look at the statistics and You will realize it is true. I can't stand dems because they justify stealing by putting the rich tag on people.
