Bob Barr on FoxNews, Critical of Republicans/Democrats, Supportive of Third Parties

Yes, since 2008, I was responding to the allegation that he has done nothing since the Presidential election. If you'd like me to get into everything he did for liberty before 2008 but after his Congressional career, I can and will. But I was responding to a very particular comment.

Well since you yourself date the previous incident in question to 1999 (I actually thought it was older than that! LOL!!!) then do tell when did he become such a champion for the wholesale rights of the individual (rather than those few he feels he can champion) and what led to this great change...

Nope wasn't in 2002:

You keep trying to reinvent Barr's image. Best of luck!

Bob Barr is an ex-CIA drug warrior patriot actor.

Also, those of you who claim he's for drug legalization, he has explicitly said he's against the legalization of crack.

If he thinks the State has the right to tell me I can't smoke rock, he apparently doesn't think I own my body.

I am tired and I got to get up soon so I won't spend much time on this. I cited his recent behavior as being indicative of an unreformed nature. Not too many people change their stripes this late in life and his actions about not wanting to be in the company of the likes of the third party candidates spoke volumes as to just how highly he esteems his own self worth. As such he will be a poor representation of his constituency if it conflicts with said interest.

""I'm not interested in third parties getting the most possible votes," Barr told the cameras. "I'm interested in Bob Barr as the nominee for the Libertarian Party getting the most possible votes." In a further insult, Barr said he would permit the vastly more popular Paul to be his vice presidential running mate"

Hey thanks for the bone Barr, Dr.Paul can run second to you!!! LOL!!!!

Bob Barr is interested in Bob Barr not liberty. He is a washed up has been desperately trying to reinvent himself. It is fine if someone points out the desperation when Romney pours tons of money to buy an election but somehow when Barr does it as a Libertarian we are supposed to believe he is somehow virtuous? Oh please!

You cited his behavior at a press conference, which I agree was childish. But does childish behavior, when taken in the context of the last several years of his pro-liberty activism, warrant the sort of visceral reaction he's recieved here? I don't think so.
I, too, was disappointed in Barr's actions.

With that said, I still think you're attaching an ego to Bob Barr that doesn't make sense when we consider his actions. While Mitt Romney poured millions into his campaign to increase his image and possibly become President, Bob Barr basically ruined his reputation and decreased his job prospects/political future by running as a Libertarian. These are definitely not the same thing.

Like I said, I opposed Barr, both for the LP nomination and in the general (I put Paul on the ballot here in LA because I didn't feel like voting for Barr or Baldwin)--I have no interest in "reinventing Barr's image", I just don't think he is deserving of a giant "F*CK YOU" and a finger.
Barr left the Republican Party and endorsed the LP Presidential candidate in 2004 after vociferously criticizing George Bush.

I didn't say he was Ron Paul or that he was a radical libertarian. But his rhetoric is at least as good, or better, as Rand Paul's. His actions, too, have proven he isn't just in it for himself.

His actions!? Look at his voting record! It's atrocious!

Obviously, because his voting record precedes his conversion to Libertarianism. This would be akin to criticizing Walter Block for being a socialist in college.
Besides, Barr's record as a Congressman certainly wasn't pro-liberty, but it wasn't the worst there was. Fiscally he was pretty good, so he understand part of the message.

How is voting for the Iraq War and the War on Drugs "pretty good" fiscally?

Bob Barr's pro liberty only applies when he is in control of the liberty he wishes you to have. Barr's position is do as I say not as I do.

I am for real champions of liberty, Adam Kokesh, RJ Harris Jake Towne, BJ Lawson, Rand Paul Ron Paul etc... If Bob Barr was starving I wouldn't buy him a soda cracker.

Bob Barr can go fuck himself.

If Bob Barr gives a million bucks to Ron Paul, i might change my mind about him.

I think we should rename him Bob Barf.

Who would of thought that the "Four Blanks" meet at the National Press Club would have Cindy McKinney and Ralph Nader taking the time and agreeing on those issues.

Then Bob Barr pulls a Mike Huckabee/Ed Rollins(campaign manager) of trying to use "An Incident" for free press coverage. It backfired, the press didn't cover Barr's "NO SHOW" and Barr looks like the Ass that he is to others.

He lost all credibility not uniting with all the 3rd party candidates and at fault is the Libertarian Party, which should of Fired his Ass and threw him to the streets.

I always have in the back of my mind... this sabotaging of all the 3rd parties uniting... because the rigged game of the Duopoly won't allow such competition.
