Except he was "emotionally disturbed" meaning he was mentally unbalanced. To kill the handicapped because they're handicapped is a shame for any society.

Being "emotionally disturbed" doesn't give him special privileges to stab people without recourse any more than a mad dog has special privileges to bite people.

The cop held back for a long time. Too long for the distances involved. Crazy knife guy was at one point 2-3 steps away from the cop and others. WAY too close.

I would have shot him the second he took a step toward me, or anyone else, with a knife in his hand.
