Wow, that's awesome--if you do get interviewed, be sure to talk about the Federal Reserve and why a gold standard is way better
I'd say that having faith in Jesus Christ and not a higher power would brings miracles, but then only if he wants them to happen
Either way, who knows? Perhaps that is the purpose of your whole entire campaign; it's not something I'd know the answer to, only Christ knows that...so *shrug* who knows...one thing is for sure though, it'd be amazing if he did accept Christ as his savior.

One thing that does confuse me is that when something goes great in a persons life they always assume it must have been someone other then THEMSELVES who must have made something GOOD happen.
Either way, whatever gets you motivated is all that matters so pray that God has you put more very targeted signs like that in front of other influential people.

Hehe, I was going to post a response that challenges the 'believers' reality, and will more than likely only further send them further into the abyss - as cognitive dissonance does. Article.

Festinger first developed this theory in the 1950s to explain how members of a cult who were persuaded by their leader, a certain Mrs Keech, that the earth was going to be destroyed on 21st December and that they alone were going to be rescued by aliens, actually increased their commitment to the cult when this did not happen. The dissonance of the thought of being so stupid was so great that instead they revised their beliefs to meet with obvious facts: that the aliens had, through their concern for the cult, saved the world instead.
I think I will save this one for later; when a more deserving assault on someones reasoning is justified. At the moment, I'll let it go.

Wow, ! I must have struck a nerve here.
Over 1300 views on this post. For those freedom lovers here who support the Constitution, aren't we supposed to have freedom of religion.
As far as respecting my campaign manager is concerned, I have nothing but respect for him. Mike is a 22 year old who instead of spending his time drinking at bars at night is working for, not me, but all of us to restore liberty. I hope he respects me too. Sometimes it is hard to tell as he continually tells me how foolish or wrong I am.
Running for office is a constant temptation to give into your ego. Mike is one way of continually reminding me that the campaign is here to serve others and not myself.
It is said "iron sharpens iron".
Believe me, Mike tests my beliefs in all things on a daily basis and yes I also challenge his beliefs. I believe this makes us each better for the exchange. If people spent more time walking in the other persons mocasins each day the world would be a better place.
One of his favorite sayings is "I am just saying".
I am constantly challenged for being a "Republican" and now a "Christian".
To be branded with a name and then have people judge you by a label you wear and not by your actions is just wrong. I am just a man who holds certain beliefs. If I was African American would you accuse me of "loving fried chicken and water melon?". How can you people turn a person into a stero type so easily?
I actual yelled at Mike today over the phone over another subject out of frustration. He was the better man today.
Posters here might want to reread my original post. I merely wished to put into evidence the fact of random placing of the sign and it consequences.
You are the jury and must weigh that evidence according to your experiences and beliefs.
I hold certain beliefs that like Ron Paul's may be considered outside the main stream. One of those is that a firmly believe that we should not be numbered by the state. Due to these beliefs I have no drivers license or bank account.
Mike suggested that I not devulge these facts to the Washington Post reporter as these are the types of things that can be used to marginalize me and hurt the cause in the public eye.
I had that interview and just tried to tell the truth about myself. What our country needs now is elected officials that will tell the truth. The reporter did mention that certain of my beliefs might be considered to be "radical" be current standards.
It will be interesting how this reporter paints my beliefs in this Sunday's metro section.
I hope all here will stop judging others by the color of their skin, party or religion and rather the content of their character.
True belief is never coerced, mandated or legislated. According to the pundits and raw numbers, I have no chance to win. I simply can not put in enough effort to win. I had no knowledge that this reporter's office was across the street from where we placed that sign.

I for one welcome all the help I can get. So daily asking for God's support, delusional or not, certainly seems worth it.
Isn't the bottom line here to win seats for liberty lovers who will not force you to practice a piticular religion, allow you to practice the religion of your choice, stop undeclared wars, stop the secret police, stop illegal taking by the government, restore free speach, freedom to travel and freedom to prsue happiness?
My mission is not to convert Mike or any other person. It is only to speak the truth as best I know it and defend others right to do the same.
Mike hasn't asked me to stop trying to convince him of anything and I haven't asked him to stop trying to convince me of his views(though sometimes like today I do wish he'd just shut up already. Again this is just a human failing on my part). When he does I will respect his request.

One "law of nature" is that in an open system every thing tends to drift towards disorder.
So there is some force or "intellegence" that organizes things into greater order in opposition to nature's tendency to disorder.
Since no one has been able to explain the nature of this organising phenomena, we are only able to speculate as to it's true nature.
So if some of us choose to personify this force, why do people get so bent out of shape about it?
If good is preceived as God with a capitalized G and one less 'o'.
And evil gets a 'D' added, does it really change the reality of the force.
I for one believe this force is all seeing all knowing. So it certainly may choose to organize events that effect our world for good.
So unless a rational thinker chooses not to accept the 2nd law of thermodynamics as fact or has some pausible explaination for this organizing opposing force, then they must believe that such an organizing force 'is'.
So to be an atheist just seems irrational to me. Unless I am missing something.
The question then lies in whether this force in fact cares about the affairs of men.
I for one believes it must care, because it made the effort to "organize"/create us.

Party's never been relevant for the revolution, all walks of life. As for religion; ok - you might have a point... if you include; non-religion. Statistics. The more signs you put up = the more coverage. The more coverage = the more name recognition. The more name recognition = the more relevance. The more relevance = the more coverage.
The more signs you put up, the greater the likely-hood of a reporter seeing them & doing a story. Go for it, as long as prayer isn't used as a replacement or substitute for action - I've got 0 qualms with it. "Do not give in to evil but proceed ever more boldly against it."

I am the "atheist" campaign manager that the "Christian" candidate Peter keeps referring too (sounds a bit slanderous when put like that eh?). People do not realize this, but according to polls and statistics, atheism is the kiss of death in the politics, never mind the workplace in general. It is a prejudice that is more stigmatizing than every other.
Do you ever hear the phrase, "never talk about religion or politics?" Well having spent considerable time in Europe, I was immersed in cultures that enjoyed debating the nuances these topics, unabashed. This is something we as Americans need to embrace because it embodies the true freedom and open-mindedness that is sorely needed. I do enjoy chatting with Peter about these topics, and at the end of the day we certainly do not agree, but we are the better for it. Do I necessarily like the way he refers to this aspect of myself in callous regards, not always - it can be uncomfortable especially in certain circles to be put on the spot. However, I would be betraying my own personal ethics if I demanded that this was a topic which may never be discussed.
I did not fall into atheism lightly. I began a heavy reading regiment; one of my favorite authors, Richard Dawkins, stands lengths above others. This is a topic that requires much thought and contemplation, and I implore people to look deeply into this and explore both sides of this issue. I think a great book to start your journey is The God Delusion, by Dawkins. But you mustn't stop there, read another of his works, The Ancestor's Tale, it is truly the cutting edge of biological science and a little in depth for those new to biology/genetics(a good precursor would be, Blind Watchmaker, done in the 1980's).

It is a brilliant look (closer to the end) at recent advancements in evolutionary theory. It is the most fair presentation of a recent case, and by no short order it obliterates the concept of Intelligent Design.

What I want people to take away from this post is that discussion about a subject such as this can only lead to a better understanding of one another. We must all stick together on this commonality, we enjoy freedom. That is why every single one of you is here today, you believe in Liberty. There are great problems with America today. We are a nation which a rapidly growing government, rampant infringement on our civil liberties, heinously backwards foreign policy, monopoly of the (private) Federal Reserve (Google: Money As Debt), asinine (and duplicitous) foreign aid program, and a Main Stream Media that often caters to pundits ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEL_hndb0kA ) . I am just warming up... As concerned citizens in our democracy, we must keep trying to inform and educate people. I want to live in a country where I do not want to be forced to give 50% of every dollar I make (considering one day I do earn a real income lol) to any entity (especially this one because you'd be lucky if you get 25 cents of worth out of that dollar)!
Please never loose sight of Constitution, those principles are meant to protect individuals from tyranny of any sort.
The campaign we are running down here in Maryland is two fold, get elected (which our numbers show that we have a fighting chance), and second is to "soften the beaches". We must get the concept out there that we have strayed far from our founding principles. Once people become more educated on these subjects they will tend to vote for candidates like Ron Paul; or even change the debate to include "new" types of issues. Well, it turns out my friend phixion was right. Peter is a prosthelatizer. Of course, I was right too. The part phixion didn't know is that Michael is, too. I think phixion might agree with me that there's a lot to be said for God or Happy Happenstance or Whatever bringing you two together. That way, you two can prosthelatize each other to death all day, and be so worn out from it that you both spare the rest of us. An outstanding deal by anyone's standards.
Seems to me there are only two problems with this excellent situation. One, Michael is no doubt very frustrated when he gets reminded that his soul is more important to Peter than this election. Firstly, Michael seems a good man, and I'm sure the easing of many souls' earthly burdens is far more important to him than his one, lone soul and he wishes Peter would feel the same way. And, given public office, Peter could probably ease multiple souls' earthly burdens. Secondly, Peter seems a good man and is obviously deeply troubled by his impression of his friend's long term future prospects.
Well, Peter, I'd like to suggest something to you and let you think about it, if I may. I have an issue with the vast majority of Christian denominations. All of them, in my opinion, take the Last Supper conversation out of context and then overlook the obvious. Follow along with me if you would.
"Through Me shall you achieve everlasting life." Fair enough. It was said in private to twelve guys that the Man Called Teacher had just put through three years of poverty and scary mobs, and whom He was about to abandon to whatever fate the Romans had in mind for the twelve. I've got to say, if I had gotten twelve guys into a similar situation, I'd probably promise them the same even though I can't be sure I could deliver. I see no indication that this was a general offer. The twelve guys who got told that had earned that.
That said, I think that (assuming the existence of God as you do) it's safe to say that we, too, can achieve everlasting life through the Man Called Teacher. So, we look through the one-Man College of Theology, Philosophy and Ethics that was Jesus of Nazareth and we find the scene at The Gate described in detail in Matthew 25:17. Now Peter, I'm going to ask you to review Matthew 25 and find me the group that you think Michael will be in. Follow the chain of custody of The Dead right back to The Earth and The Sea and count the groups that everyone gets divided into.
I count two groups--and I'll be damned if I can find one labeled, "Athiests."
If you're truly worried about your friend Michael's soul, here's what I think you can do to help. Next winter, when the two of you are walking along and come across a couple of homeless people, take your coat off and give it to one of them. Then goad Michael into giving his to the other, and race him to the car before you both freeze. Or get him into Habitat for Humanity.
Meanwhile, worry about winning that race!

Well, Peter, I'd like to suggest something to you and let you think about it, if I may. I have an issue with the vast majority of Christian denominations. All of them, in my opinion, take the Last Supper conversation out of context and then overlook the obvious. Follow along with me if you would.
"Through Me shall you achieve everlasting life." Fair enough. It was said in private to twelve guys that the Man Called Teacher had just put through three years of poverty and scary mobs, and whom He was about to abandon to whatever fate the Romans had in mind for the twelve. I've got to say, if I had gotten twelve guys into a similar situation, I'd probably promise them the same even though I can't be sure I could deliver. I see no indication that this was a general offer. The twelve guys who got told that had earned that.
That said, I think that (assuming the existence of God as you do) it's safe to say that we, too, can achieve everlasting life through the Man Called Teacher. So, we look through the one-Man College of Theology, Philosophy and Ethics that was Jesus of Nazareth and we find the scene at The Gate described in detail in Matthew 25:17. Now Peter, I'm going to ask you to review Matthew 25 and find me the group that you think Michael will be in. Follow the chain of custody of The Dead right back to The Earth and The Sea and count the groups that everyone gets divided into.
I count two groups--and I'll be damned if I can find one labeled, "Athiests."
If you're truly worried about your friend Michael's soul, here's what I think you can do to help. Next winter, when the two of you are walking along and come across a couple of homeless people, take your coat off and give it to one of them. Then goad Michael into giving his to the other, and race him to the car before you both freeze. Or get him into Habitat for Humanity.
Meanwhile, worry about winning that race!
