Bam! This is how we raise 23 Million Dollars for Ron Paul

Competition is a helluva motivator.

So this is a great idea.

If we do this, we can maybe make HQ's goal reality but definitely reach $23 million for the quarter.

So I'm behind this "raw" concept 100%.

Somebody *sticky* this and let's all unite behind it. :)

Yes Peterjar thats is exactly what Chris and I were thinking when we came up with this idea..a real open source money storm that never really stops raining!

Even after the race is over we are still a crystallized movement able to do amazing things in the future to change this country for the better.

For one, this would need its own web site with a cool way to few the stats.

it could be done similar to how folding@home works. Have a scoreboard/ranking system that has a score listed with a user and the users team (or meetup).

ie. joeblow has donated $50, and team Coffee has $5,000 , total number of donations, avg donation size, etc.

It works great for F@H because it allows for very stiff competition and really is what drives the whole program.

I'm not sure how to accurately track the donations though

OMG, the official ronpaul2008.com web sight must add a way to donate to the campaign with some sort of tagged tracking links for meetup groups!

Donation Tracking of Meetup Group Numbers

I can get the word out to a ton of rp supporters as I have my email list already from my previous money bomb that I did. I can email trevor about this as well. When is this getting setup and when is an estimated completion date.

All that is needed is to get ahold of every meetup group leader and let them know what is going on. It will spread from there especially if there is a leaderboard. No one wants to be shown as the loser and everyone will fight to be the winner.

This will allow meetup groups to odds are get new members so they too can donate and also get their "lazy" meetup members to cough up some cash and help out the cause.

Get this going, get some banners and I will make sure it is on all the forums, ron paul sites, money bomb sites and get the word out to as many meetup group leaders that I know and who know others.

I love this idea and am SICK of the money bombs lol,

tell someone they need to donate $250 and they say ouch, tell them to donate $60 a week and they say hmmmn thats doable.... For those who are maxed, you can use your email code that you can enter into the donations page to track them as long as it gets discussed with HQ, you can get event codes and a ref code. It is not hard to do and would be easy to track as it looks like hq already tracks donations.

A meetup scoreboard would be awesome. It would bring out the competitive nature in everyone.

its all happining

Yes BigRedBrent and newyears..:) this is the essence of my idea and I am happy others are seeing the vision.

I have 2 programmers and a web designer working on this and anyone with skills can join in with ideas or time spent getting it done, maybe we should have a conference call so we can all collaborate and pull all the talent together so we can make this thing go faster.

Anyone know of a free conference call service we can use sometime this weekend?

Lets show them dirty bastards in Washington how to raise real money with out spending a dime....they will look like the jack asses they are!

lets see CNN and fox news ignore 23 million baby!

www.pauliticalpress.com

lets change the game!

map of america

The site will basically be a big map of the US with expandable states you scroll over to see the stats of each meetup group and a big running meter showing the front runners.

any other suggestions would be great!

My site, thebonfire.com is going to be launching soon. Our architechure may just be able to handle that exact thing, except using google maps with pins representing each meetup group. The pins could be color coded based on the rank that they are currently in with special pins for the top 3 meetup groups. There could also be additional graphs based on different things like states, totals raised, maybe even by individuals.

We would be more then happy to sponsor this type of an event.

Go here for details to see what I'm creating: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=82842

I updated my previous post since I discovered that no form of registration is required to do this. The official donation sight would only need to store the meetup group numbers given by the donors. Then allow access to this information in some useful way.

I think the official campaign web sight will need to work with us on this in some way so we can have them store this useful information when people donate to them.

How are you going to verify the statistics and in what way will people donate to make sure the statistics are accurate?

Probably should just go by what meetup group number is given and not require registration at all. This would simplify things.

When you donate on the official campaign web sight it should ask you what meetup group number you are a member of if any. This would be brilliant and simpler to implement for them. Then they could add a search ability to look up donation records for meetup groups.

The fist thing they need to do is add an option to add a meetup group number to the official donation page. Then make it so a tagged link will automatically fill the number in for those who use the link. Just like the links they use that fill in the referrers email to join as a precinct leader.

I really love this idea. Ive been thinking about a previous posters comment about he couldnt compete because his meetup group is in a rural area.Maybe two winners an urban one and a rural one?

Meetup is full of a bunch of duplicate members that sign up for local and abroad groups. Sorry to be a party pooper.

This also encourages people to mention the importance of donating to the campaign. Its a touchy subject asking people for money.

not a party pooper

That wont effect anything at all! its by group not by person so it wont matter, its a race of meetup groups.

Cheers

Since you'd be able to enter your meetup number, you could choose the one you wanted to benefit. People abroad wouldn't be able to donate anyway.

It don't matter, you just pick one meetup group number per donation. It may be a tough choice for some but it is better then no meetup group tracking at all.

It would be useful information even if no one is breaking any totals.

People are competitive by nature and I think this would give the campaign a boost.

I really hope this message somehow reaches the campaign.

Focus your energy on Older People. Please.

They are the biggest voters. Bring assurance to them. Make sure they know they are going to be taken care of. The young crowd is taken care of at this point. Grassroots projects are making sure of that. We NEED the older vote. THEY get out to the polls in MASS.

I'm 23. Politicians don't take people my age or younger seriously. I saw Kinky Friedman attempt an amazing run at Texas Governor, but he focused most of his attention on the young vote, hoping to get them out and vote. Even with the massive amount of online support he had, he came in 4th. The sad truth is there are way more young people who will not vote than we think. Our ONLY hope for this election is the Older vote.

I urge all supporters of Ron Paul to get out and talk to "Old" people.

I urge the Ron Paul campaign to focus a lot more energy on getting an older demographic of voters.

look up the stats. we've got the young and it is growing all the time. It's time to get the golden age on our side!

spread the message.

Organize Senior Citizens homes!

organize Senior Citizens voting trips!

Go down to the local Senior Citizens home and start preaching the word or better yet start a meetup and get volunteers to work with older people.

or

Work with retiree groups in your community to organize voting field trips of sorts or hell take them all out the the pub after...lol what ever gets it done.

Its a good idea!
