Anyone else nervous about Ron's new advisors?

I'm very happy that Ron has added new advisers to the campaign. Gleeful in fact, based on how badly I've heard it's been going.

But there's one new addition that I'm a little nervous about: Philip Giraldi, a former CIA officer and whistle-blower for Dick Cheney's plan to attack Iran with nukes. I don't feel comfortable with ANYONE from the CIA, regardless of their record, being in the Paul campaign. Once CIA, always CIA.

"When they got you, THEY GOT YOU FOR LIFE!" says Joe Pesci from the movie JFK, a film about the death of a President who wanted to end the CIA, end the war in Vietnam, end tax cut on oil companies, and end the Federal Reserve.

Sound familiar???

Nope. Believe it or not, there are good forces working (past and present) in the government. Just look at Ron Paul. He certainly stands heads above your typical Congresscritter, so I don't think that we can paint the entire CIA (past and present) with a broad brush.

I so agree with the responses here. There are so many honorable people that have served our country, in civil service and the military. For this to all work out, we have to be able to understand that there are pure motives in a lot of people, even if we don't agree with the actions or method. Above all, stay focused on our message of the constitution, and freedom for all.

i see your worry, but, i trust if RP trusts someone thats been in things...then he sees something good and hopefully it will be OK.

Stay close to your friends and closer to your enemies.
Big brother is watching you, but you can watch him too.

As the Cousin of James B. Comey former deputy attorney general, I am endorsing Ron Paul. It is my hope that if my cousin ever gets back into politics, he works in a Paul administration. There were good people who worked for George Bush and jumped ship because of the bypass of the Constitution and the fact that he was and still is receiving bad advise. I trust Paul on every issue. He is pragmatic. I am sure he is selecting high level thinkers.

I disagree with once CIA always CIA.

Does anyone else read the McAlvany Intelligence Advisor? This guy is ex CIA, completely in tune with the havoc our government wreaks on our financial system, is also a Ron Paul supporter.
Check him out....

I've heard of some individuals who did not "get out" and paid the price for their loyalty to Bush's administration... prison. You've got to be strong to be in Washington... the true sin city.

If you're saying that Philip Giraldi was responsible for covering up the CIA's murder of JFK, I'd say you're a little off base.

Otherwise, I don't really know what you're saying, beyond "I don't like who he used to work for". Which, given that he used to work for them, indicates a degree of sense you should agree with.

Face it in the modern world we need spooks. We need foreign intelligence, we would be foolish to think otherwise and that is how they try to paint RP's stance. What we may not need is this agency as it stands now. RP never said we need to get rid of military intelligence he says we need reform. So yes there are many good Americans working in the CIA and other agencies as well as the military of course. I think RP made a great move adding some experience and expertise on to his team.

As someone who's considering going into that field, I will say that there are a lot of good people in our intelligence agencies. I've been inside the headquarters of the NRO(National Reconnaissance Office, aka the satellite people), a mixture of CIA and NSA folks, and they're ordinary people just like the rest of us. I think it's the politicians and the higher-ups moreso than the little guys who are corrupt.

Dr. Paul believes in intelligence gathering. But he doesn't believe in the CIA trying to topple governments and install "pro-American" governments.

C'mon. Good people work for our government, and they're not all in on some mega conspiracy or anything. Would you trust Michael Scheuer?

For those who are wondering who this guy is:

Philip Giraldi is a former officer of the United States Central Intelligence Agency who became famous for claiming in 2005 that the USA was preparing plans to attack Iran with nuclear weapons in response to a terrorist action against the US, independently of whether or not Iran was involved in the action. He is presently a partner in an international security consultancy, Cannistraro Associates.

In August 2005, Philip Giraldi claimed that US Vice President Dick Cheney had instructed STRATCOM to prepare

"a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States... [including] a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons... not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States."

The reason cited for the attack to use mini-nukes is that the targets are hardened or are deep underground and would not be destroyed by non-nuclear warheads.

Gotta agree with you on that one. If you don't make the old evening news regularly you don't exist. Dr. Paul has a lot of good people but we have not seen the professional level message and media handling. We all are sold but think about your aunt or your grandmother. Are they sold? Have they heard of him at all? They have added some good people recently though and that is very good. They are improving rapidly. Hey, check out Rand Paul's speeches! He is and will be a great speaker.

Intel saves lives, but when it is corrupted it has the opposite result. We all remember the guy who stuffed the documents down his pants, we all remember the Marc Rich pardon.

We all remember the attorney general firings
We all remember the bedside visit to Ashcroft

I wonder wouldn't it be better to focus on doing away with the old CIA that has proven not to be on the cutting edge of Intel, and build a new CIA with transparency and is built by the American people, for the American people. Who do you trust to do that?
