Ak47 tactical sites (what do you prefer?)

I'm getting my ak together right now and am at a loss for what type of scope / sight to get. I want something that can take the place of the stock crapy iron sites so I'm guessing a red dot sight would be the best. Anyone have any ideas? And pics would be great as well :) Thanks.

Personally i don't plan on shooting my AK at anything that's farther than about 150yrds - that's what the FAL's for :-)

The guys there have forgotten more about the AK than most of us have ever known. They are also friendly and will help anybody as long as they are civil in asking.
 
I just looked at ALL of their red dot scopes. You would be better off using the money you would waste on ANY of them buying ammo and practicing with the sights on the rifle.

ALL of them have a HIGH history of failure.

There are lots of Russian military optics designed for the AK that will mount right up to your receiver side rail if your gun has one. If not it's pretty cheap to have a gunsmith install one or you could probably do it yourself if you're careful. These are real mil-spec optics that are cheaper than American ones and way better than cheap Chinese knockoffs, they would be your best bet. Check out

Most people use the Kobra or PK-AS which is probably better if you don't mind the sight being offset.

Hawk, thanks for the heads up on those sites! I'll make sure to stay away from them. Matt, thanks for the link, that first one looks exactly like what I'm looking for. I'll email them to see if they have any available and what the cost is. Thanks again guys, not sure what I would do without the RP revolutionaries to help me out :)
 
It just came in today. All I have to say is damn! It is a nice site! It looks like it would take a tank running over the thing to break it. Also the red dot is bright enough to see it with no problems. Thanks again for the heads up on that site.
