ACLU files suit against Catholics for no-abortion hospital policy

Solution: Dont get a job where murder is a part of the business. Thus, dont join the Military, become a Cop, a Vet, or a Doctor, especially an Abortion Doctor. There is no law requiring one to do so (except military), yet. It also doesnt mean that the Hospital couldnt hire someone that is willing to perform the procedure except by its own rules. Not everyone who works for a Catholic Hospital should be required to be Catholic either.

Just my two cents.

It's either OK to be free market or it's not- can't have it both ways.

Mistaken by whom? Freedom OF religion. Not from. Show me where religion is being imposed.

I think he was saying that he agrees with us and disagrees with Americans who say that the separation of church and state prevents someone from speaking about their religious beliefs in public buildings.

At the risk of being called "theocrat" by some ignorant fools who have no clue what I believe... "Separation of church and state" is unconstitutional crap.

"Abolition of State by church" sounds like a better idea to me;)

Exactly- thanks for clarifying. :)

Separation of church and state was never in the Constitution and is completely unconstitutional, as practiced today.

...

I'm not sure why Vets or non-abortion doctors would ever have to commit murder as part of their career (I agree with you on soldiers and cops, although obviously its not guaranteed that they'll have to commit murder... and abortion doctors should be obvious.)

That said, I don't see the relevance of your post to what I was saying. If a Catholic hospital doesn't want to provide abortion as a procedure (Nevermind the discussion about abortion itself)... its their property... they shouldn't have to. This is basic libertarianism here.

As for Catholic hospitals and Catholicism, that too would be up to the hospital.

...

Yeah, no guarantees they will have to commit murder, but for many cops, the ones that upset this community the most, they do choose to commit murder.

"Up to the Hospital": This assumes that an artificial entity, a business has more Rights than any of its employees.

There is no such requirement, just like there is no requirement that people receiving any of the $150+ billion in social programs for the sick, hungry, needy, homeless, etc that the Catholic Church spends every year in the US be Catholic.

That said, if you work for a Catholic hospital you play by their rules. Simple employment condition. Don't like it, work somewhere else.

There ought to be a law...

Yeah, that pisses me off also. At least they are good about defending the right to free speech of gun owners.

(Oh yeah assholes, I physically type my name after every post. I may be a narcissistic ass, but I don't take short cuts.)

Asshole reporting.

What is purpose of it?

(wanted to sign with someone elses nickname but becuase of "Asshole reporting" part didnt because it could have been seen as an insult)

There already is, Im sure. :p

People also used to say is "This is a Free Country".

Today, we dont hear people say either of those things much any more.

I laugh in people's faces when they dare utter the words "we live in a free country". After ceasing my hysterical laughing, I ask them what it is that makes us so free.

“It’s not just about one woman,” said Kary Moss, an executive director of the Michigan ACLU, in the Newsmax report. “It’s about a nationwide policy created by nonmedical professionals putting patients in harm’s way.”
Are lawyers medical or healthcare professionals?

That and gun rights. They won't stand up for the Second Amendment, either. According to them, we have a right to an abortion but not to carry firearms.

I wonder if the ACLU believes it's okay to shoot a fetus?

Yeah, because abortion is that simple of an issue. It is far more complicated. You know it is. And incredibly intelligent people are on both sides.

Stop pretending that this is some easy to decide bullshit.

Abortion may be complicated, but consistently supporting the constitution shouldn't be. The ACLU shouldn't be all over standing for 9 amendentments, and even supporting stuff not mentioned in the constitution like "abortion rights", while ignoring something specifically mentioned in the constitution like gun rights. And in this case the ACLU is going against the very freedom of religion principles it claims to support. What's next? The ACLU is going to demand that a Jewish hospital serve pork because some patient somewhere may be allergic to most kosher meats? That's supposed to be the beauty of being a part of a constitutional republic. While we can disagree on a lot, there are some things that should be set in stone. Not forcing someone else to violate his/her religion should be one of them.

Glad to see the ACLU has it's priorities straight. Making sure unborn babies are safely killed is one of our most cherished civil rights. Hopefully this does not distract them from the other threats to our liberty like school prayer and public nativity scenes.
