1. RP was always careful to not rule this out. As I said in another post, RP must have this option if he is to fulfil his duty to defend the US constitution.
2. Would his running 3rd Party turn off any current supporters? - no
3. Would his not running 3rd Party turn off any current supporters? - maybe
4. the GOP RP base is secure enough to do this, now really go for the Independents
5. Romney V Obama is already a news vacuum - there's nothing to debate - even Trump is slithering back. RP can mess that up real good.
6. RP running 3rd Party would mark the start of the real war Vs MSM. MSM vs Ron Paul grassroots - the final showdown. Winnable? Mmmm, tempting challenge...

At the very least we would have someone to vote for and campaign for in the presidential election!

A choice VS. no choice!

I have to agree.

I don't see room in the Republican party for Ron Paul after the speech Romney made yesterday during the Memorial Day observation. People applauded and cheered Romney's call for war against Iran and his taunting U.S. political adversaries when the day was to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives to deliver us peace. Romney essentially blasted Dr. Paul with his speech.

I have said this before and I will say it again. When Mitt losses the Republicans will blame Paul and in 2016 will nominate Santorum vs Rand Paul as "payback" who will also lose by just winning 4-5 states. At that time the Republican party will die off so Paul thinking he can save them is false because they do not want to be saved. Just look at the amount of people who voted for Santorum and thought and still do think he has a chance to win next to anyone.

Paul running 3rd party in 2012 with a new campaign team behind him can win. New ads about how similar both Obama/Mitt are will push more people to think about Paul. All he would need is over 33% in 15-20 random states and he wins.

Nope, waste of time. The GOP is the vehicle to beat them at their own game.

I don't think you have any options. I don't. Romney yesterday got the applause of the Republican party by taunting war like confrontations with Russia, China, Pakistan, Venezuela, Iran, and Mexico his country of origin. Romney even proposed to invade Mexico in order to rid them of the influence of the drug cartels. And the Republicans present applauded profusely. Now how are you going to reconcile that? Is that what you want? War with everyone that rises in opposition to the U.S. or has a drug violence problem that they haven't been able to solve.

Isn't running 3rd party, no matter who you are, like playing against a stacked deck? Don't the rules about getting on the ballot in all 50 states make this a "mission impossible"?

I do like our chances though, if in fact it's not an uphill battle just to get on the ballots.

Romney just can't close the deal and he's been pitching it for 4 years, spending millions. There's absolutely no excitement in his campaign.
Obama, who was able to pull all the disenfranchised "R's" after the 8 bush years and inspire many new voters with the 'hope and change' mantra, will NOT be able to do that again. People can see now that he too is more of the same.

I like our chances.

We wouldn't even be on the ballot in a number of states, people...

It would be more symbolic than anything, and probably wear him out more than he needs to be.

Just sit back and let things play out how they will.
