2/10/12 [VIDEO] Doug Wead on Maddow Show MSNBC. Incredible interview

lol... im having trouble figuring out why we are explaining this to the enemy. what if santorum, newt, and romney supporters is going to start doing this?...

They aren't committed enough. For a traditional campaign to organize something like this it would require a huge level of organization that you simply aren't going to see. It would require other candidates to invest too much for a simple small caucus state. This is one of those times that it is a benefit to have a dedicated, active grassroots that can work with the campaign.

That just completely rejuvenated my faith in the campaign! I wish I had even a rudimentary knowledge of the delegate process so I could pledge here...I guess for Santorum?

Volunteer to become a delegate on the campaign website. They will likely contact you. If they don't, create a thread here and tsai3904, our resident expert in the process, will explain the rules for your state.

"The big story is... We probably have more delegates than anyone else in this race right now"

:D. Good to know the campaign knows their shit. People can stop bashing them now.

Yes, great interview. I am sure the GOP elites are pacing the floor wondering what their next plan of attack needs to be!

I am, however, just a bit perplexed as to why the campaign seems so willing to broadcast and highlight this strategy, partcularly so early in the process.

If nothing else it has cast the focus of the media on the strategy. Therefore it will be much more difficult for the GOP to try any shenanigans.

Perhaps because it is a complicated process that requires a strong organization and dedicated supporters, something you can't just get overnight?

This. We may be outnumbered, but we are unmatched in terms of passion and knowledge. I would bet a lot of money that the majority of Romney/Grinch/Frothy supporters absolutely do not understand the delegate process, and even if they did, would be interested enough to become one.

question is, why is the establishment allowing gingrich and santorum to stay in the race... knowing that a brokered convention is in the best favor of ron paul. because the paul camp loved it when santorum won and took away romney's momentum.

They're doing it specifically to kill his momentum. If his momentum is broken, it's hard to recover when you have the MSM backing the establishment (and they know this). It would force him to go broke in donations.

They're trying to discourage us. That's why they want them in the race still.

Candidates are self-interested, you know? They all want to be President. The establishment (the part that doesn't owe Newt big time) want Romney. The media, on the other hand, want it to play out for as long as possible. The liberals in the media want the candidates to destroy each other and the "conservatives" want ad revenue.

The establishment doesn't have central control over everything, and there are opposing factions in the establishment.

Wead misspoke at the end on one point..

Many primary states also award delegates in a similar process to the caucus states..

For example, SC, GA, VA, OK(as a small example) are all primary states that have a delegate selection process like a caucus state. The primary just determines(in most cases) who the delegates are bound to vote for on the first ballot. We need to win the delegates in those states too, so if it gets brokered, we win on 2nd ballot. And also to set the party platform and etc.

Maddow seemed befuddled. She failed to pose the question to Wead whether the delegate(s) in question had an ethical or moral obligation to vote as the caucus voters had popularly endorsed.

I think she realized she was outgunned.
