$100k needed by Friday for Blimp or the media will have a field day laughing at us

I've said this before but I'll say it again if you setup sites that have pledges than other candidates supporters can inflate the numbers to make it look like a failure when what was expected is not reached.

The blimp shouldn’t have been promised if the money wasn’t in the bank. All I have is going to December 16th and I’m not changing that. And the teaparty07 site numbers can easily be inflated if we even hit 4 million that day I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

27 pages, 4000+ views, and someone FINALLY posts the link to donate.

I think we could have raised the money hours ago if the original poster had done this. Oh well..

Can the original poster edit his post.. its really silly that it wasn't in there.

McLane2007,

Another Mister know-it-all. Thanks for being another Monday morning quarterback.

You must be "all a glow" to be so wise and knowledgeable!

Must be nice to have the mind of a boring old fart.

Seeing that I said this up front I'm not being a Monday morning quarterback. Don't spend money you don't have, not that difficult genius.

Being a "stick in the mud" is not that difficult genius.

Raising 4.2 million in one day through ingenuity and creativity, that's another story.

Thankfully others were able to overcome the continious harping of nay-sayers and make that project a success.

Thanks for posting a non-point. All I'm saying is when we make number predictions up front and have sites that have people pledge allows for other candidates supporters to inflate the numbers and make the event look like a failure. I’m not sure why you are attacking me about making this point. It’s not like I’m trying to make anything fail, I donate when I say I will. I just don’t want to unnecessarily give the media ammunition to turn something positive into something negative.

I was a fence sitter until I saw that this Blimp project is in peril. Regardless of what you think about the blimp plan itself, the media is aware of the project (ie Wall Street Journal) and please consider donating because the last thing we need just 2 weeks before the tea party is to see something like this on O'reilly:

"And now for tonight's most ridiculous item of the day.

A group of internet Ron Paul supporters had been organizing to fly a massive blimp with their candidate's name on it. Well their 'blimp' is now just a 'blip' as they missed their funding goal by a long shot earlier today despite having *more* than enough money pledged.

Our sources say internal squabbling and a general lack of clarity lead to the project's undoing, but others say that the Paul campaign is just, well, deflating so to speak.

Either way Paul supporters, who are widely seen as annoying and disruptive by other groups on the internet, apparently couldn't agree with *each other* long enough to get this project off the ground. Proving once again that while the internet carries a lot of 'hype' in the media, when it comes results on the ground it simply doesn't deliver."

VERY WELL WRITTEN, BUT PRESS LIKE THIS JUST WON'T HAPPEN

Not just the media. Do you want Wonkette.com to have the last laugh? Support the blimp!

Most definitely. Dec. 16th is getting MUCH, MUCH more attention than any other money bomb, I wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of pledges were actually fakes.

im sending my money on friday, but I SUGGEST WE CALL HQ they can finish the ad purchase legally now thanks to trevor and the lawyers setting this up;)
SO I SUGGEST WE ALL CALL HQ with THE SUGGESTION OF BUYING THE REST OF THE AIRTIME,then the blimp will pay for itself in media and airtime.

This will happen, if Hq doesnt step up ,ill send my dec 16th money as everyone should, since this will only help dec 16th and the blimp will make its money back in 10 minutes of launching with local/state/national media and radio and newspapers.

CALL HQ WITH THIS SUGGESTION ,this will happen

They can't. If they buy time on the blimp, the whole project gets shut down.

You could not be further from the truth here. I know I was all for the 5th from the very moment it was mentioned, and I am against this blimp project as is.

I mean you have over $14,000 in staffing expense (or 24hrs of flight time) that I know of off the top of my head. (approx)

Oh, let's not forget. Partial quote: "Even if the blimp does not get to fly we will still get tons of media!"

Give me a break...

I'm with you. I was all about Nov 5th. I got lots of friends and family to donate. But I really don't believe in a Ron Paul blimp. I haven't been posting threads asking people not to donate. I've just been ignoring the project. That's my right, right? But please stop saying all "blimp naysayers" are *&(#heads. If it's a huge success, that's awesome! But I'm not giving any of my money to find out.

how much are we short?

About $100K is needed by Friday, then another $150K by December 10th and another $150K to complete the full price for one month.

So all in all about $400K more is needed, as they have collect about $100K of $500K.

The blimp was a great idea, but it's just too much money. Unless a millionaire steps in with a generous donation, it probably won't happen.

Use the donations instead for a radio, print, and TV blitz in Iowa and New Hampshire. Lets win the first two primary states. The attention generated by that would blow away any press we get from the blimp.
