To Ron's defense.... He is on the far side of 70.

It's not easy to think on your feet at his age. I've often thought about his age and always ask myself....."how the hell does he sound so damn good for being 76!" I mean my grandma is younger than him and she asks me "how I'm liking college" and I've been out of college for a god damn year! She's batshit crazy.

I know. It just seems like part of Ron's personality is that sometimes he's just extremely stubborn. He just won't change the way that he phrases the issues in order to reach out to more GOP voters.

The very quality that makes Ron Paul Ron Paul is what is making it so difficult for him to do anything that could remotely be interpreted as pandering.

Wead has been ascribed mythical powers on these here forums. Which is puzzling, for a guy who betrayed the trust of his employer and lost favor amongst the circles we're counting on him to penetrate because of it. He was also wrong about the media being forced to report about Ron's straw poll victories. Wead's a nice guy, I gather, but the glorification of him in the grassroots is strange.

Ron Paul did great as usual. His ideas are complex and hard to communicate. He does it is a non defensive way that disarms his opponents. His style is actually a plus. His ideas are so radical, meaning going to the root, that it could really threaten people and their thinking. Because he has such a mild demeanor he is accessible, making his ideas more palatable to those with firm opinions. Think of Gandhi. He personally was soft spoken but his ideas held power. The perfect combination. We always think Ron didn't do as well as he could have but the next day everyone is debating his ideas. Which is what we want. People questioning the status quo.

They are suggestions, Tina. Since I have been a conservative all my life, I know what appeals to them and what does not. Real conservatives; not neocons. Paul appearing weak on national defense may be a big plus to a leftist, but it doesn't play well with traditional conservatives. I know that Paul isn't weak; I just want him to drive that home.

I want him to win, Tina. To do that, he first has to get the Republican nomination.

Fair enough. I just didn't think he sounded weak. I thought he sounded very reasonable. Then again, I'm not a reactionary person and actually listen to what people are saying instead of listening to talking points. Having said that though, your point is taken.

Well he's the one who prepped GHW for debates, so I assumed he would be doing the same for Ron. If Ron is getting absolutely no prep, he is at an even larger disadvantage considering the other candidates sweat their balls off prepping for every possible line before these interviews and debates.

It has nothing to do with his personality, it's totally about addressing the issues in the proper perspective. When you're teaching a child basic math, you teach it to them in a way they can understand, using blocks or holding up your fingers. The same applies to GOP voters, they turn hostile when hearing the words "empire" or "occupation", like giving a kid his booster shot. I wish RP understood this, I know Doug Wead certainly does. Wording his message in a way that GOP voters can fully understand is how we can win, he doesn't need to change his personality or his policies to do this.
