Youtube: Will Work For Free - Official Release

Most of the time the only reason companies move towards automation is because government made it more expensive to hire real people for the jobs. Other times the new technology is implemented to cuts costs and increases productivity. Hardly anyone would argue something like an electric drill created unemployment...rather it increased productivity of construction workers. Companies wont shrink their workforce but rather reinvest the added savings to hire more people. Further with new technology new markets and industries are created to produce and service such technology. At the end of the day there is a net increase in jobs ironically, even if some transitional unemployment occurs. Its a complete and utter fallacy that technology of any kinds will lead to the end of most jobs. Pure ignorance and I expected a lot better from people who claim to be ron paul supporters. Learn basic economics before you claim to be a Ron Paul supporter or all your going to do is make us all look ignorant.

Yes, and it's that momentary spike in unemployment as a result, regardless of how brief or temporary it is, that stirs up the labor force that's affected by it. Their mindset is "I need a job today so I can put food on my plate tonight" (or something along those lines).

I think you're making assumptions; there are other possibilities besides ignorance. Principles for anything, whether it's economics, physics, or any other field, are valid, provided the necessary premises are true. I don't think we can predict the future. Humanity has never fully implemented technology and automation at a level that would eliminate all jobs and all work, before. How can you know what's going to happen in the future?

I can safely say that in a free market we will never face the problem of all jobs becoming automated and thus leaving everyone unemployed.

Theres always going to be temporary unemployment, whether people are changing jobs or just entering the labor force. Its not a problem and shouldnt be looked at as one. Sacrificing technological advancement and subsequently the advancement of the standard of living in order to save a few people who work a nitch jobs and refuse to adapt to the times is preposterous.
