I'm basically committed to a year and a half job here and then I may be going off the RADAR. I am a home builder and we have one big project that I have committed to and then I will see. I have some other options in the works.

I'm self employed. I always request to be paid in cash (and keep it out of banks - no trail). That request keeps me from reporting a ton of income. I always report a profit of less than $400 a year to avoid the "self employment tax." The IRS did come after me once wondering how I supported myself. I claimed "wife support" and they have left me alone ever since. I don't pay a dime to SS or the IRS.

We do custom homes only, no speculating or developing. Its good bussiness right now and we have a great customer base.

Real Estate updates from around the country.

Socal sucks harder then ever...Bottom is still not here.. Home developments are ghost towns and the inland areas are seeing more vacant REOs and forclusures hittiing the market everyday.

THERE IS NO NEW HOME DEVELOPMENT NONE

The alarm bells are ringin here but everone is deaf

Unemployment tries to garnish your wages I think - but mann they charge like 30% penalty or interest - it's almost illegal

Well, it more than likely has to do with the state you live in. Here in IL, I was overpaid a bit and they charged no interest, they just asked for it back quite a few times, let me know that they could sue me for the 42 dollars and then proceeded to take it out of my state income tax refund when I didn't pay. Since I was averaging about 9 dollars for my state refund, it took a while to pay off. If you owe more, I'm sure they would consider harsher actions.

YEah your in a good pocket parket place Florida going to shit right now. I like TN, Alabama, Arkansas LA areas - Old people headed your way

I saw about 20 real estate signs on the highway in one spot here in Monroe, Washington. There were more signs everywhere. Washington is said to be one of the less hit areas but I think it's catching up to the rest of the US.

I have a friend that just moved back from Florida with nothing. He was building down there when crap started flying and I think it broke him. I hear it is REAL bad down there.

You can be jailed for being In arrears for child support. It sure makes sense to throw someone in jail over a debt. Lets make sure they can't work to pay.
