Yet another reason to not eat pork. Brain Tapeworms.

So... per this article we should eat, what?

Every food has dangers now. If you're going to advocate a vegetarian diet, keep in mind that these same "contaminated" piggies are used in fertilizer. Veggies and fruit are actually usually the culprits in food contamination scares. We won't get into what other land-based food creatures have crawling around in them. The creatures being fished out of the rivers and oceans are a horror, and the ones being raised in farms are no better.

It comes down to trying to know where most of your food comes from, and treating it properly once it is in your custody.

MMMMMmmmmm...Bacon.

I posted this as a "hat tip" to Mrs. AF.

She will not eat pork or have it in the house, which means, like Jules Winfield said in "Pulp Fiction", that pretty much makes me a non pork eater as well.

Damn those ribs looked good though.

But, I do happen to agree with her, pork is probably not the best meat in the world to eat.

You're welcome.

So if I eat any pork I'm gonna get brain tapeworms or just if I eat bad pork?

Undercooked pork. I'm not a health food freak, and I'll occasionally eat raw meat - but not pork. Pork always to be throughly cooked - none of that "pink in the middle) stuff. If your bacon isn't crispy, send it back.

Seriously, our grandparents all knew this. Is this one of those things that used to be common knowledge that is now so little known that Discover can use it to drum up a big hysteria with?

Is this something that young people don't know these days?
well why would the grocery store make and sell something with worms in it?!! yuck, go to a better store. i dont see any worms crawling around on the meat in my local store.

i'm not sure that's the case with cured bacon.

The swine, is devine.

Just cook it - right?

People bring stray cats into their houses. Any idea on what kind of parasites are inside of a stray cat? How about those folks that let their cats roam the neighborhood at night? What might your pets be bringing into your homes?

you heard it here first, make sure to properly cook any stray cats and pets in your neighborhood.

Somehow eating cooked worms/parasites contained in pork meat does not sound very appetizing. :p Nevertheless you cannot kill all the worms/parasites eggs by cooking.
