Yahoo Front : Senator Rand Paul says he favors cutting U.S. aid to Israel

Paul could be president one day, he's going to be so well liked, even by the establishment. Although he acts diplomatic, he has held true to campaign promises better than any of the other supposed tea party caucus.

Notice how they carefully neglected to mention that Rand Paul wants to end foreign aid to EVERYONE, and not just Israel. This article mischaracterized his position as wanting to end aid to Israel only. If I had a Yahoo account I'd correct the hell out of that "oversight."

Anyone who still thinks that Rand has "sold out" is ignorant. I still hear this claim from some people, even those who love his father. "Ron is great, but Rand is pro war" And all these other myths the media like to spread. Keep it up Rand.

Is it just me, or has Rand gotten the most attention of the newly elected congressmen? I expected Rubio to really be pushed, but every time I look at the news it seems like the media's covering Rand again, first over his plan to cut 500 billion from the budget, then over him proposing to end foreign aid. I think the media's hoping that people will read these stories and dismiss him as crazy, but if anything, it's building him support, so I encourage him to keep it up. My one fear is he'll get burnt out after a few months in the bureaucratic hell of DC, but thankfully he has his father around to keep him encouraged. :)

"The steadfast support for Israel is widespread in Congress and Paul's proposal is certain to face strong opposition. In a fresh example of that support, six senior members of the House sent a letter to President Barack Obama imploring him to promise a veto of a pending U.N. resolution that condemns Israel and urging him to pressure Palestinian leaders to negotiate directly with Israel."

They mention that at the end as if that has anything to do with foreign aid.

From the comments clearly the article did not make it clear enough that Rand wants to cut ALL aid.

Before we start cutting aid to Israel lets cut off all economic and humanitarian aid to all the other countries we contribute too, including Haiti.

Go Rand!!!

Rand Paul has done more to advance the ideas of liberty in a few WEEKS than most politicians have done in their life.

He wants to cut $500 billion in spending in 8 months. He wants to end HUD and the Dept of energy and end all the dept of ed except Pell grants. But THIS is what makes front page, yahoo.

Yahoos is right.

The establishment is pushing Rubio. The people aren't interested. They are interested in what Rand is doing.

Yahoo has always hated those that are anti-status quo.

Its hard to continue to steal someone's money and give it to someone else (even if that someone "likes" the other person), when the person you're stealing from starts noticing that its missing. That's why the Neo-Con love feast with Israel isn't hitting home in the U.S. as it once did. At least around me. I don't talk to one Israel supporter. Shocking as that is, the availability of information makes it hard for people not to stare the truth in the face.

That's why Rand is making sense to people.

What's the response been like on the grassroots left regarding the Israel thing?

Grass roots are happy. The left says he is at least consistent, but they still hate him. Mostly you see stuff like 'even a broken clock is right 2ce a day', however a couple of really principled people on the left are at least waiting to see his votes, etc. A few neocons aren't happy, of course, but people knew Rand wanted to cut all aid. And he told AIPAC before he was elected that they were going to disagree on aid and they might as well move on to the next subject. Those headlines hit a month or so ago. Most conservative grass roots are just thrilled he is actually trying to address the deficit after so many who got into office and did nothing, from what I can see. Even Hannity forums are positive.

many claim "even a broken clock is right..."

the thing is, they say that all the time, so Rand is right a lot more often than their broken clock!

somehow they need to be smacked with a clarification that Rand's position is cutting ALL foreign aid, and not aid to Israel only. Most of the angry people commenting on the Yahoo article are angry because they think (justifiably from the wording of the Yahoo article) that Rand wants to cut Israel ONLY. That, of course, is a bold-faced lie.
