Write in Ron Paul or Vote for Chuck Balwin?

Right now I think most of our hopes are pinned on Ron Paul still somehow winning the convention.

I have long said that no matter what happened I was voting Ron Paul even if I had to write him in.

Chuck Balwin getting the CP nomination instead of Alan Keyes is making me have second thoughts. I think the most important thing is that the majority of our revolution does the same thing, if we divide our strength it is going to weaken the revolution.

So, assuming that Ron Paul does not get the GOP nomination, which action best serves the revolution? Write in Paul or vote Baldwin? I am leaning towards Baldwin, what do you think and why?

Donate to Vern McKinley and BJ Lawson. Both of their candidacies are far more important than either Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin's.

Heh, I'm in the same exact position as you, Intent; I was going to write in Paul's name no matter what too...but, when I heard that Chuck Baldwin got the Constitution Party nomination, I was very excited (I was really hoping Mr. Keyes wasn't going to get it).

What will I do...I really don't know; at this point in time, I strongly believe there won't be an election anyway...but, if there is...I'll decide at a later time.

I'll most likely be voting for the Libertarian Party nominee. I'm hoping Barr wins the nomination (it's looking that way but who knows what will happen in Denver). I've got a lot of reservations about him, but I think he'll be taken seriously enough to potentially be a huge thorn in McCain's side, which ideally would force McCain to start paying a lot more attention to the libertarian/constitutionalist voting bloc. ISTM that is the whole point of third party presidential politics.

people in states with no allowed write in cant write in paul (and have it count). They will have to vote for someone on the ballot. I know because i'm in one of those states (sucks). So if everyone were to decide they were going to write in paul a few states would be left out.

I wonder if I can move quickly and vote somewhere else ;-)

It's a tough decision, but I think I'd rather vote for Dr. Chuck Baldwin and let a new political party take hold of office than write-in Congressman Paul who's still a member of a status quo, neoconservative, totalitarian party.

Not to mention that it is virtually impossible for any third party to win the presidency in 2008, and technically impossible for the CP to win it.

Which is why Dr. Paul chooses to work within the GOP. He understands just how badly the deck is stacked against those coming from outside the two-party system.

I know what you mean. However, I think comparing Chavez and his party to Dr. Baldwin and the Constitution Party is a far stretch, though. Pastor Baldwin has basically the same constitutional principles of government as Congressman Paul, so I was basing my choice on which of their parties would have the greatest impact and restitution for having constitutional government back in this country. Since the Republican Party has fell so far away from its original principles of limited government (and continues to do so), I see no hope for it to get back on track. Therefore, knowing the sound party platform of the CP, I think it's time we gave them a chance to return our government back to its traditions and its Constitution. I appreciate your concern, but our government needs a drastic change of course from its current trends of ignoring its Constitutional obligations, expansive economic and foreign policies, and violations of private civil liberties and God-given rights. The Constitution Party can overcome this trend, and I believe Dr. Baldwin will be a great catalyst to start us back on the road towards that great republic we once were in the beginning, with the help of God.

that's a much better reason to vote for them

even though, i still have to say that voting for a third party is a protest vote.

Chuck Baldwin is a good man and has been a stalwart supporter of Dr. Paul. I'm certain the only reason he's running is because Dr. Paul clearly won't get the nomination and has stated he won't run third party. Everyone should do what he or she thinks is best, but I don't think a write in campaign will even be noticed. Unless we do MUCH better than we did in the primary the media will be justified in not reporting the write in results at all. Frankly I wish Dr. Paul would endorse Chuck Baldwin.

I don't know what Chavez did for the Venezuelans but he helped save America by stalling the implementation of the FTAA. That might not have been his motive but I'm glad it happened.

As I have said elsewhere, I will still vote for Dr Paul, even if someone says it does not count. I will oppose Chuck Baldwin's attempts to win the Presidency, only working harder against the other presumptives.

I'm really torn. On one hand, I think that since the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party would rather fight windmills than actually join the Revolution, they are hurting those of us who are working towards real change. On the other hand, Pastor Chuck Baldwin is a great man, and I can only think of one better candidate. It will take some soul-searching, and I may not decide until I step into the voting booth.

Saying the CP is a bunch of Theocrats is about like saying the LP is a bunch of atheists. Chuck Baldwin and the CP are mostly good people who are not interested in shoving resligion down anyone's throat.

Is any of their platform based on their religious beliefs? Yes but so were many of Ron Paul's positions influenced by his beliefs. Everything I have seen of Chuck Baldwin he would be very similar to Ron Paul as a president. I didn't care for Alan Keyes either as a GOP candidate or as a CP candidate, I am very pleased to see the CP did not give him the nom.
