If Romney chose Ron, Rush/Hannity/Erickson/MEDVED/Hewitt/Beck's heads would explode. That alone would be worth it.

And yeah, Romney could prevent a lot of..shall we say...convention embarrassment by choosing Ron, too.

Are we having fun yet?

Ron Paul would be expected to support all of Romney's positions. Get real.

It's ultimately up to the delegates who Romney's running mate is. Romney could do all the expecting he wants, but Ron would do what Ron's gonna do.

I'm gonna vote for Romney even if he doesn't choose Dr. Paul as his running mate. I don't give a damn. I can't stand anything that comes out of a liberal's mouth...they make me sick!

One thing I don't get: If Romney chooses his VP next week (and it's not Ron), isn't he just inviting even MORE embarrassment at the convention?

Oh, my...What a fine mess. LOL

Paul to Romney: You do what I tell you to do! End the fed, close all U.S. military bases around the world, bring all the troops home, close the Departments of Energy, Commerce, Interior, Education, and Housing and Urban Development, and end the war on drugs, which would cut $2 trillion in spending.

Oh I hope he picks someone like John Bolton then...that would be a fun mess.

Ron Paul would NEVER do that, get real!

My whole decision I'd vote for it is based on Ron always being Ron.
But Ron can't just be Ron if he accepts the #2 spot on the ticket!!

Ron would have to -- as Carlybee said -- support all of Romney's positions.

The #1 rule of a VP candidate: do no harm to the POTUS candidate.

If Romney knows Ron Paul wouldn't lead the cheers for him, it would be stupid for Mittens to pick Ron.

Yeah, it would be worth it...but that's exactly why he won't do it. Hannity/Beck/Limbaugh are going to be extremely influential in getting out the vote for Romney...it's never a piece of cake to defeat an incumbent president, and he won't want to do anything to piss off those 3.

I know some of y'all are just having fun with this, so excuse my interruption of reality. I guess I just can't find the fun in imagining Ron Paul kissing Romney ass to be VP.

With the exception of Grinch Cheney...most VPs are little more than cheerleaders for the Pres. I wouldn't wish that on Ron Paul. What happens when he is expected to show solidarity in support of US imperialistic foreign policy? He would have a target on his back. No thanks.

:confused::(

Leaving aside the analysis regarding use of collectives labeling practices that's more or less like saying you'd vote for 'cheese' over 'burger' because you can't stand 'cheese-burger'.

As just one recent example

Obmney, is called Obmney for a reason (or rather whole host of reasons).

the question isn't that most Paul supporters won't support Romney but how many Romney supporters won't support Paul. If both sides feel they can't possibly vote for the other, then the general election comes, and it's Obama or (republican nominee), then what happens?

There is a war for your perceptions. You can't count Paul down or out yet.

Republicans have learned to hold their noses while they vote for decades. Paul supporters are simply unwavering and will never vote for Romney. Republicans will just have to hold their noses if they find voting for Ron Paul more distasteful than voting for Romney in order to make sure Obama doesn't win.

And Romney may not be VP simply cuz the 2nd in line to the Oval Office and I don't trust that. That would be like voting for Regicide.

Do they make some sort of deal, where RP doesn't have to keep his mouth shut and can keep pushing liberty? Or does he go back burner like every other VP

In the days immediately after she was picked, though, lots of people on lewrockwell.com were saying very positive things about her.

And also, before she was even mentioned as the running mate, in the Ron Paul 2008 campaign, some people on THIS forum were mentioning her as a possible RON PAUL running mate. I remember.

She changed after being picked.

She was attacked by the media worse than Ron Paul was. Yes, in 2007, she was the Ron Paul VP. I have no idea if she "changed". She was attacked by the media. If Ron Paul was as well known and popular as Sarah Palin, the media would've torn him down as well instead of the "mostly ignore, small attacks when necessary" approach they took with Ron Paul.

Romney has been a close personal friend of Netanyahu for 36 years.

That is true but the worse attacks came from the gay/lesbian community and sympathizers and from Obama's unscrupulous campaign operatives. Few people understand how and why Sarah Palin is a very strong person capable of making the most difficult decisions and being able to live with insurmountably obstacles that impede her progress but overcoming all of them anyway and achieving success when the odds against that are daunting. Dr. Paul being a man cannot ever be able to match Sarah Palin woman instincts, but if he had just half of Palin's will power he would be now beating Romney and Obama together by 10 points.

A Sarah Palin / Ron Paul presidency would shake this country and put it back in the shape it deserves to be.

I think he'd never make a deal TO go on the back burner. You don't think media would stick a mic in the VP's face once they realized he spoke his own mind on policy?
