You would target the demographic we have the most trouble with - the older than 60 group.

Good point. That would be the most intelligent thing to do. I would just hope they would watch...not be so bogged down by what the MSM has said of Paul that they would't watch at the mere mention of his name.

It could be great if they did watch. I wonder what would be the best way to target them.

unfortunately, the biggest bang for our buck (target marketing) would be on FoxNews and I'm not sure I want to support them financially.

How about Infomercial that sells a dvd or something like that ??? It pays for it's self ???? Why spend money when you can get the message out for free, make money, or just not cost as much?

Since this was your thread could you check out post 17 from me. I'm not sure if this is something you are trying to start & manage or just an idea you are floating out there for the campaign to run with.

30 minutes of national tv...wouldn't that cost like 10 million for a prime time network spot?

Well, don't forget "infomercial hour" aka the wee hours of the morning, and in my locale they're on Sunday mornings as well.

Lots more people see infomercials than people give credit for, just ask the P90x folks.

Are those expensive time slots, considering what they advertise?

/just a (weird) thought

I would have a hard time supporting this venture because it will likely be very expensive, and only happens once. Maybe if we are lucky, a large number of undecideds will see it, but realistically, can we expect a large convert rate? And 30 minutes is still not alot of time, has anyone seen the townhall videos on cspan? Over an hour, and not many issues get really explained. 30 minutes would be over before you know it, and then its done. All the millions it cost to air it, gone in 30 min.

I feel the money would be better given to the campaign to fund their 10m push in upcoming states, and that is more likely to have a postive effect on the outcome of the race (targeted advertising, repeated throughout the day, so larger audience potential).

The campaign contacted me earlier asking for $10m, I imagine if they thought it would be more effective to buy one 30min slot, then that's what they'd be doing.

I trust the campaign, so if my opinion is worth anything at all, id say let's focus on giving the campaign 10million within the month like they asked for.

Obama's 30 minute spot only cost cost $2 million to be broadcast on NBC and CBS in 2008. I really think this is something that is very attainable for us.

Thoughts?

I like it a lot if it's a campaign thing. Though, I would probably go for buying local markets instead of national.

I am a little more leery of it as a grassroots thing, because it could be good or it could be a nightmare.

I am talking national

I think it's a good idea but you definitely want it planned out, and the timing has to be right. I think something like this closer to Super Tuesday could do wonders.

It worked for Ross Perot. People still talk about him and his charts to this day.

My only reservation to that would be the cost. Is it cost effective to have the ad spot run in states like NY, PA, CA, etc that aren't voting to much later or could it be targeted to states that are in play at just the right time. We need a media expert for that info.
