Here's a question which has been bugging me would the late great Bill Hicks of approved of Ron Paul?

I reckon there's a a good chance he very much might of

A friend of mine suggested that Bill Hicks faked his death and assumed the identity of Alex Jones.

He might be onto something:

They do look a lot a like.....

And how can you be a libertarian socialist? That's a contradiction of terms.

Listen to Bill Hicks

Yeah, Bill Hicks would have most definitely approved of Ron Paul. There are certain types of people who just see through the bullshit, and tell it like it is. They were alike in that way.

They would have disagreed on abortion, but I still think Bill would have to respect Ron's point of view somewhat and the fact that that particular issue doesn't outweigh ALL the rest of them. On foreign policy and the war on drugs and civil liberties, and economics (I think)....they would certainly agree.

It's possible Hicks would be at rallies, pumping everyone up and converting newcomers. It's possible he would be a real asset to the cause right now, since he had such a unique way of pointing out inconsistencies in the status quo.

In a way I think the two of them would represent the two extremes of the libertarian spectrum (and of this forum maybe): the soft-spoken, dignified, wise statesman; and the younger, brash, conspiracy-filled fellow.

I miss him, but his memory will live on.

p.s. - If you haven't listened to Bill Hicks (and if you're desensitised to profanity and....uh....other adult content), then you should buy one of his CDs and prepare to laugh your ass off.

:)

The term libertarian was first used by a French anarcho-communist back in 1857 to describe himself (an anarchist). The modern term libertarianism (individual freedoms, economic freedoms) was originally called liberalism.

They would not have agreed with gun rights and economic policies because again he was a libertarian socialist (anarcho-socialist).

Doug Stanhope endorsed Ron Paul. Stanhope's comedy reminds me a lot of Bill Hick's.

Bill Hicks: (paraphrase)

"You know what I think about Gays in the military?

ANYONE DUMB ENOUGH TO JOIN THE MILITARY

should be allowed in the military."

I didnt know Bill Hicks was dead... now I have to look this u p

Like "liberal" "libertarian" has evolved to mean something different from when it was coined. If you mean "anarcho-communist" (a contradiction itself) then say anarcho-communist.
