A 105-year-old Texas woman has earned a place in almost all headlines by revealing the most unlikely secret to her long life.

Strangely, her key to longevity is bacon. Yes, you read it right; 105-year-old Pearl Cantrell loves to eat bacon and feasts on it almost every day. Her story, for sure, will be a subject of research for most health scientists.

Pearl Cantrell, who's mostly referred to as the '105-year-old bacon woman', said in an interview with a local NBC station, "I love bacon and I eat it everyday. I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say."

Resident of Central Texas, Cantrell, a mother of seven, has outlived three of her kids, as well as her husband. Her recent 105th birthday bash was a three-day affair that included more than 200 guests.

Actually genetics probably played a significant role. "I am really old. I got there by eating ---- every day!" (or drinking or smoking.....)

There are plenty of people who did not live long lived and did those things too.

But the stories are cool because it lets us think that maybe we might have a chance to beat death for a bit longer too. He sneaks up on all of us eventually- some sooner than others.

My gram lived to 99 and used to pour bacon grease on pancakes. Maybe there's something to it.

My grandparents all made it to their late 90's with one still living (just turned 95).

It's probably more with genetics. Some folks can handle fats better, some do better on carbs. Of course, it can't hurt to eat whole grain carbs for pasta and rice, and bread.

It can and does hurt for normal people if a lot of that is eaten. It's okay in moderation in combination with the appropriate exercise and diet regimen, though. /end threadjack

I do my best to keep up my fitness, but your life span seems to be almost predetermined. Now I'd rather live 90 good years than 90 years being prodded and poked by Doctors. (My genetics on both my sides live into their 90s)

It's all genetics... I knew of one women who made it past 100 and she said her secret was eating sticks of butter... and as we all know that's not good lol.

100% pastured, organic bacon would be your best bet, but i'd still eat traditional grain-fed bacon over any kind of "whole-grain" food.

Bullshit, butter, bacon, and fats in general are what people used to eat all the time and when they did people didn't get diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks etc. youtube "the oiling of america"
