Wisconsin C4L Leader “Purged” From County GOP

[/Following up on last week’s House GOP retreat, one area Republicans are not retreating is purging members of the liberty movement from the party.

Todd Welch, long-time C4L state coordinator in Wisconsin recently received a letter from the “leadership” in Dunn County informing him his membership was “denied.”

Dated January 9, Richard Rust, the county GOP Chair informed Welch they were returning his membership dues and the Executive Board had unanimously voted to deny him membership.

The letter claimed,
“Your actions at the Republican National Convention, your Convention article in the Eau Claire Leader and multiple Facebook entries have not been honorable actions…”
Todd’s “crime” is something every C4L leader is guilty of — holding GOP politicians accountable to their stated principles — thinking critically, and speaking out, rather than blindly cheerleading for anyone on “Team R.” He works tirelessly to ensure that GOP elected officials pay more than lip service to the cause of limited government and individual liberty.

Todd had this to say about the Dunn County GOP’s actions:
“This is about keeping the Tea Party, Grassroots, and any one that wants to hold Republican candidates accountable to Republican principles out of the party.

Republicans did not lose in 2012 because of our ideas, we lost because of our failure to hold our candidates and politicians accountable and effectively stand up for our principle.

To me the future looks bright for the Republican Party but only if we stand strong against what the party elite and the main stream media are telling us. They are telling us that we must sacrifice our principles to win. I am here to say that it is the exact opposite of what must be done, rather we must stand up for our principles and force our candidates and politicians to do the same.”

Discipline begins at home, and good political activists like Todd Welch understand that. It’s clear the Dunn County GOP does not.

You can let the Dunn County GOP know what you think about them denying activists membership in “their” party here.

GOP “leaders” take note: It’s probably not wise to alienate the fastest only growing segment of the GOP: the grassroots liberty movement inspired and influenced by Ron Paul.QUOTE]

Good. Very good that the light is being thrown on "party vs integrity and honesty" (party vs principle).

edit: Let the sheep in clothing only undress and reveal their ravenous selves !

Do the voters have ANY say on who gets elected? They should organize a protest and publicly shame those bastards.

This is an outrage. If anyone wants to send words to Dunn County Chairman Richard Rust, please by all means do. Keep it cordial though and don't get mean.

The person they're trying to purge is Todd Welch, an outstanding Liberty activist here in WI. He's also the head of the WI-C4L, a personal friend and someone I've worked with on many occasions. He was a national delegate who went to Tampa, and after being released by Santorum he voted for Ron Paul (the 1 vote from WI).

We seriously cannot stand for this kind of BS.

They would rather embarrassingly pander for the Latino vote with Rubio. It is the opinion of this man in this chair that the establishment is not allowed to use the word "honor" as they ignorant of its meaning.

I saw this over at DP and someone from Colorado commented that it's happening in their county too. Justice is working with Dems and Libertarians to help republicans lose in your area if they won't let you in.

So, did they just deny him a membership in the party or did he have some rank and got cut down:confused:

Can someone translate this sentence? Is this just a random post by someone, or is this an official C4L press release?

Here is the appropriate strategy:

I can no longer in good conscience tell individuals to give any more money to the National or State Republican Parties or to vote straight Republican. They should only give directly to, or provide other support to Constitutional Conservative candidates. Voters should only vote for Constitutional Conservatives. Even if a RINO (Republican In name Only) is uncontested, the lower vote total vs. other candidates will show their vulnerability in the next election. This may influence how they vote.

Here is the appropriate strategy:

The kicker is, they apparently don't even want the money. They refunded this guy in Wisconsin his party dues payment! Used to be they'd take your money and sit you in the back somewhere with a muzzle over your mouth. Now, it's clear that to me that they would much rather destroy the party than give up control of the party.

Yeah things are craaazzzy. We've got our own little crapstorm brewing in the South. Some local party hack leader (Republican Appointee to the County Board of Elections) wrote a blatantly racist article in an online blog (it had to be one of the sickest things I've read in quite a while) and the Chairman of the Party defended the guy, said he had 1st Admend. rights to say whatever he wants to and everyone else can just shove it. County Conventions are coming up in a month so it might be on like Donkey Kong in the South. Adding to that the guys wife who wrote the sickness was a National Delegate!!! and she had the gal to stand up in front of a public comments sections and defend what he wrote as "not racist" (to the laughter of the entire room).

And Republicans wonder why the Party is branded as the "old, white guy racist party" . . . here is your sign.

From Todd Welch email

---------------- snip!

I have a confession to make...I'm a Republican.

Or at least I think I am. The reason I'm not sure is because I received a certified letter from the Dunn County Republican Party chairman Richard Rust that said I was being denied membership in the party.

While Campaign for Liberty is a non-partisan organization, I have been personally involved in the GOP for years, so this letter came as a shock to me because I just represented Wisconsin at the national convention as a delegate. It was also shocking, because to tell you the truth, I didn't even know there was an application.

Why is there a sudden interest to kick me out of the GOP? I believe part of it stems from my insistence that Republican (and really all) elected officials should be voting for limited constitutional government. When elected officials don't, then it's our job to let them know we are not happy.

It could also be that I fought against rules to silence the grassroots at the Republican National Convention, a naked power grab by the party elite.

----------------------------------- end excerp.. there was more..

If the *uckers dont want us..

Are you guys sick of this yet??

John

Can they do this? At least in Texas, when you vote, you just declare what you are and then you can vote in that primary.

I said it before and I'll say it again. If they won't let you in, do your best to help Democrats and Libertarians defeat Republicans locally. Actions have consequences.

In Iowa, you declare and it is so. Wisconsin... what are you doing? Get the cheese off your head; you're not thinking straight.

this was posted before. I think someone who knew the guy commented on the thread. I'll see if I can find and merge them.

I know non-major parties charges dues and have membership and what-not but I can't remember a major party doing so. Who are they to say who can and cannot be a Republican?
