Will the "n" on the blimp be fixed?

There is a hole in the letter "n" on the blimp banner. Is there anyway for this to be fixed? If there must be a hole in the banner for air can't they simply repair the letter "n" and place multiple smaller holes (that people will not notice) in the white sections of the banner?

Um, no I do not think it will be fixed. Don't you guys see that object that is protruding out? Its part of the blimp structure and it doesn't look like it can be covered.

Its not that big of a deal, people will get the idea.

On further research, that is the hole for a helium input point. They may cover it with something blue but you'll still see a slight variance.

I dont think its that big of a deal. It looks AWESOME!

Dude or Dudette, you are a serious pain in the butt!

THREAD CLOSED!

No, this thread is not closed.

It looks stupid to have part of the "n" missing. They need to put something over that spot to complete the "n."

I agree I think it looks horrible having the gigantic hole right in the letter. If it was on the white part no one would care!

The vinyl should have had a ziper on it where you could zip and unzip the hole to fill with helium

That hole is for the emergency helium valve. The best that can be done will be to apply adhesive vinyl decals in that area.

Not a huge deal... but poor planning anyway. The blimp company should have known about this and passed this on to whomever was creating the banner so they could have adjusted the lettering to avoid the issue.

The real question is 'what next?' How many other problems are out there that have not been accounted for. They need to be determined and a plan put in place to avoid, mitigate, transfer or accept those risks.

Weather, is one they have to accept, but the rest, can be dealt with... perhaps we need a separate thread to discuss these and come up with a plan to deal with them. Even if the blimp team ignores it -- we will have a good 'I told you so...' thread to beat them up with later.

Menthol, I've got to say you are very pushy.

Its not a big deal, you keep making mountains out of mole hills and I'm tired of your topics.

Get granny warrior down there with her sewing kit

For a nice little patch. Don't have to block up the hole. She's around. Looks like a 30 min fix.

I'm simply urging everyone to get the maximum result out of every dollar spent. To get the maximum result out of the Tea Party the banner needs to be perfect and the blimp needs to be in Boston for the Tea Party.

The fact is that every dollar spent is PRECIOUS. I totally support this project, but we need to make sure everything is done to MAXIMIZE the effectiveness of this project.

Greetings All,

I'm simply urging everyone to get the maximum result out of every dollar spent. To get the maximum result out of the Tea Party the banner needs to be perfect and the blimp needs to be in Boston for the Tea Party.

The fact is that every dollar spent is PRECIOUS. I totally support this project, but we need to make sure everything is done to MAXIMIZE the effectiveness of this project.

Seems to me that to MAXIMIZE the effectiveness of this project then SAFETY must be the paramount concern. If weather keeps the blimp from Boston, so be it. If the helium inlet can't be blocked, so be it. Fact is, the blimp is going to fly and it will have a huge positive impact and it cost the official campaign NOTHING.

As an outsider looking in, all I can say is job well done.

It did indeed cost the official campaign money. At least some fraction of the money for the blimp came from money people were going to donate to the official campaign. Not everyone is rich and can give huge amounts of money to the campaign and projects like the blimp.

Every dime that goes to the blimp effort could have been used for the official campaign OR other grassroots projects. Every single dollar spent needs to be MAXIMIZED.

By the way, everything I have suggested can be done TOTALLY SAFELY. They don't have to block where the helium would be released. All they have to do is put some adhesive decals on that area so the "n" looks like it is completed!

Perhaps you could donate one of your patches... pre-colored.

It may be too big... but they can cut it down size. :D
