Will Russia invade Ukraine?

Now that they have gotten Russia distracted with Ukraine. The war mongers can finally focus on Syria.

Ironically Putin sought legislative approval for this intervention, our own Presidents wouldnt dare do such a thing. (Getting unanimous approval in their federal senate actually) Oh those Russians...

Bush did twice however what he got was exactly what Putin got. The option to start a war at HIS option.

Russia wants to keep Syria becasue that is their Mediteranian port. They want to keep at least Crimea because that is their Black Sea port. Note that so far, Crimea is the only place they have sent forces to.

The forces were already there when he asked for approval for his actions- it was just a rubber stamp for what was already done.

Obama's decision not to seek approval is politically motivated. Unlike United Russia and its allies, who have held majorities since 1999, the Democratic Party did not control both Houses of Congress when the President announced his interventions in Bosnia, Kosovo, Libya and Syria.

Bush sought legislative approval for Iraq when he controlled both houses.

Yep this thread reinforces the fact that a good portion of Paultards aren't antiwar, just anti US. So nice to know that no other governments in the world started wars before the event of the evil US.

The thread about Rand is even worse. There's people there blasting Rand for warning against a Russian military intervention, who applaud whenever leaders of foreign nations slams American imperialism.

I dont support this war or any war. I would like a peaceful solution, I was making a joke about marching on Brussels. Though I do believe eastern Ukraine and the Crimea should be part of Russia since thats what the population there wants.

Looks like Russia is taking over Crimea. Very good news!

From what I heard, they secured the airport.. and that possibly to support the elected but deposed president.

perhaps they don't recognize the legitimacy of the Coup.

@just observation,,based on possibly tainted media coverage.

First off, the Russian military was already there and secondly you don't exactly say no to Putin if you value your life.

Am I the only one that is getting really tired of the US working to undermine democratically elected leaders? Like him or not, the guy that they just ousted was elected to his post. While he was in office, he opted to sign an agreement with Russia instead of the EU.

I'm not anti-war. Sometimes wars have to happen. Sometimes you have to defend your country or interests. I'm against the interventions, the meddling, the world policing and nation building.

The fact remains that in the Crimea and eastern Ukraine the people want to be part of Russia. They speak Russian, they consider themselves Russian, and Russia offers them much more. Ukraine is a failed socialist state, Russia offers them stability and more economic freedoms.

This.

There is no war going on, there was a coup in Ukraine and now Russia is standing strong and defending their interests as well as defending the rights (including the right to self determination) of the Russian minority within Ukraine, which Russia must do according to its own Constitution. The Russian Constitution says the President has the responsibility to protect Russians regardless of where they are.
