I am on Wiki's side, but I do not trust Assange. You have to take everything THEY say against him with a grain of salt. But his own interviews have left a negative impression of him, to me.

Almost like the scene in the movie Seven with Freeman and Spacey in the car. Assange is taking pleasure from this.
 
Once the insurance file is out, the game is over though. There is no second insurance file that keeps government at bay. It would be all out war against wikileaks and assange.

If I donate money, would it be intercepted by the US gov? What would be the best method? Mail? Online?

this all assumes that the first insurance file is actually keeping the government at bay. i doubt that it contains anything huge.

after wikileaks was criticized for editing out portions of the "collateral damage'' video, assange explained that wikileaks entices leakers by assuring that their material will get maximum press coverage.

anybody leaking extremely damaging information would probably prefer for the most damaging elements of it to be released immediately.

if wikileaks does have damaging information though, clearly assange would be able to have it released piece by piece to put pressure on the government to free him.
