Why would Ron Paul not support the Iranian people?

Non-interventionalism. Besides it depends what revolutionary group WINS Iran. Another dictator could rise out of this.

Kind of misleading on the nuclear program. Not even Ahmadinejad is talking about a nuclear weapons program. Mousavi would continue the program for peaceful purposes. I don't like nuclear power, but its within their right (and within international treaties) to pursue it.

Further, while Mousavi probably isn't "pro-American," that doesn't mean he's not a reformer. There actually are some pretty significant differences in platform (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mir-Hossein_Mousavi#Platform). Could he/would he have been able to carry out reforms if elected? Who knows, but its besides the point. The protests are against the inequality, the brutality, and dictatorial qualities of the regime. Mousavi isn't perfect, but he's doing a good job of encouraging people to peacefully protest and not resort to violence, as they work for things that are pretty admirable in my opinion.

The thread title is also a rather loaded statement. Not going along with this hogwash resolution is by no means an example of 'not supporting the Iranian people'. I'm somewhat disappointed a veteran here would conduct themselves in this manner.

What do have an official resolution by Congress accomplish? If people in our government dislike what they see in Iran just say so.

Can't they just say what's on their mind without calling a vote on it?

Nuclear energy would be best for Iran because of the resources available.

Iran, like Saudi Arabia and other huge oil exporters, realize that the supply of oil is not endless, nor will the demand for oil be endless. They are all developing alternative energy sources. Not to mention that in the meantime, the less oil they use themselves, the more they can export for a profit.

He urged U.S. Senators to support the “identical” resolution that was introduced Friday by Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona.

^Is reason enough to assume this type of resolution is a bad idea and at worst, yet another step towards justifying an attack on iran.

Did these Congress Critters think Mahmoud would be influenced by this resolution?

Duh!

Read what he said and then get a translator. By the way how in the world did you find RonPaulFourms?

anyone catch this line?

"I have admired President Obama’s cautious approach to the situation in Iran and I would have preferred that we in the House had acted similarly."

He's a class act, RP is.
